Not to defend Don Lemon, whom I can’t stand, and I am not gonna watch the segment, but I think his point about the desirability to say the word in context is valid. Sunshine, as they say, is the best disinfectant.

Rush Limbaugh, whose “I’m not racist” routine has forever hinged on “because I’ve never actually said the N-word (in front of an open mike),” must be feeling awfully confused and excited. Meanwhile Bruce Tinsley is furiously insisting to his editor that it’s perfectly okay now for Mallard Fillmore to use the word in every single panel from now on, because it’s “not offensive.”

Oh, honestly, everyone is acting like 8-year-olds who just heard their mother say “shit” when she dropped the casserole. It’s just a word, people. And the president said it IS offensive, and just because you have taught yourself not to offend with that word does not mean you are not racist.
Racism is deep and pervasive, and it is not focused on the use or non-use of that one word. Expand your thinking, please.

Seems like CNN is getting dangerously close to reporting actual, you know, news.
They might want to watch that.
