Appalling … but there’s little doubt that our courts will slam the door on this … and here’s hoping that the whole Trump clan gets their sticky little business fingers crushed in the shut-down.

I’m going to quibble over that “always,” Democrats should be willing to work across the aisle when they have good faith actors on the other side to work with. Unfortunately that hasn’t been the case since Gingritch’s time at the latest.

Um… no. Richard Nixon was many things. He was not a “decent man.”

That’s a given, which is why I didn’t include it in my comment.

I shouldn’t be surprised any more. However, I find it stunning that the same people to whom Trump would deny a minimum or living wage will still support this DOJ pronouncement.

Time to bring back this tweet

the TPM story

“As explained below, the Emoluments Clauses apply only to the receipt of compensation for personal services and to the receipt of honors and gifts based on official position. They do not prohibit any company in which the President has any financial interest from doing business with any foreign, federal, or state instrumentality,” the court doc said.

Even so, President-elect Trump wants there to be no doubt in the minds of the American public that he is completely isolating himself from his business interests. He instructed us to take all steps realistically possible to make it clear that he is not exploiting the office of the presidency for his personal benefit. He also sought the guidance of individuals who are familiar with and have worked extensively in the fields of government ethics and constitutional law.

The problem is that these days and for a good while now there haven’t been any good faith actors on the right for them to work with, so calls for Democrats to be the ones to cross the aisle have a tendency to come across as calls for them to work with the bad faith far right loons that make up the modern Republican party.

Heck, every time I have ever checked in to a hotel my privacy is invaded. They want to know my home address, credit card number, if I drive they want the license plate number.

which is funny, because Dillon’s January argument included the promise that Trump didn’t want/wasn’t going to benefit from his businesses.

That was starting to get a little creepy.

Check into a hotel in another country and they require your passport too.

Trump’s not only profiting, he reneged on his promise to donate profits to the Treasury, which is a bullshit setup because he injures private ‘competitors’, a term that shouldn’t be associated with American governance.

Ted Lieu says that Trump’s lawyer risks prison for lying and obstruction of justice. DOJ administrators should be held to the same scrutiny.

This administration wants that amended to include, “…or if you are fucking a republican.”
