“I think one of the most important things we’re doing is ensuring that there is activity within the department — and between the department and other departments and the private sector — to make sure we identify information that matters, we open and investigate cases where we learn of potential threats, and we put others in the position to protect and defend themselves,” he said.

That sounds as promising as the agreement iDJiT signed yesterday with KJU. “Let’s shake hands and pretend.”

Nah, this is meant as a mid-summer GOP campaign booster shot. I’m guessing it will downplay how effective the psy-ops can be, how influential it proved to be just from empirical and anecdotal evidence, and basically try to sell the conclusion that we should stay vigilant and aware and try to prevent it, but that even when it happens, it’s no biggy because it really has no effect and there’s not only no evidence it sways elections but no way to measure it, i.e., leveling a preemptive “you can’t prove it even if you try and anything you do is just fakery” at anyone who says it actually can be measured and shown to have an effect.

I certainly hope that the “good guys” have an army of teenage hackers and tech geniuses working on this. Nothing will fuck with Russians more than American teenage ninja techies.
