How can ANYBODY take the statements of Trump’s pet DOJ seriously these days? C’mon.

Of course they talked about it

But really it is the VP and cabinet officials that need to be talking about it.

“The Deputy Attorney General never authorized any recording that Mr. McCabe references.

That doesn’t deny that the option was discussed, or for that matter, that efforts were taken to implement such a plan; only says that final approval was never given.

Maybe the story is not that they discussed this option, but that the Trump and his cadrĂ© of miscreants, made such a contingency plan necessary. That’s the lede.

Good brief thread.

“Never authorized” is not the same thing as ‘never discussed’.

At no time did I wait until the middle of the night to take a cookie from the jar.

This statement reeks of Sister Sarah or her programmer. Do they have some sort of statement generation device?

Nor is it “Never carried out” - just sayin’

I do not often watch 60 Minutes
but I am looking forward to Rod Rosenstein’s interview several months from now

There have been a lot of events over the past week that I think we’ll look back and think of as turning points. One thing that is presently happening is that the Senate GOP seems more committed to distancing themselves from Trump on the budget/shutdown on the matter of the wall. If the GOP can go against Trump on the wall, then the GOP-Trump link is effectively broken. They won’t be able to stop #trumprussia or impeachment. It’s even possible that a hack like Barr might be tapped by them to ease Trump out of office. I would not have said that before, and I still quite doubt it, but let’s just say that the break between Trump and the GOP puts the notion of the GOP forcing Trump out on the radar in a way it wasn’t before. It might only be a 15% probability but it’s there.

15% is better than 0%. Not hugely better, but still an improvement.

The Justice Department said Thursday that ex-acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe gave an “inaccurate and factually incorrect” account in an soon-to-be-aired CBS News interview about 2017 discussions at the DOJ of recording President Trump.

Wow — both inaccurate and factually incorrect!

A non-denial denial.

DOJ knew the president was a danger and seriously considered taking drastic action to save the country. Ho hum, let’s go back to talking about a freshman representative’s intemperate Tweet.
