The handbook does still mention some voting rights issues, such as bans on literacy tests and poll taxes,
Well that’s nice…

I’ve wondered about this. There are lots of states that are divided up to help the GOP. I lived in Austin TX which is horribly gerrymandered in their favor. It’s a crime what happened there.

Now I live in IL, and the Dems benefit from gerrymandering here. I do think that if gerrymandering were to go away it would help Dems on the whole, but there would be losses. I wonder if minority representation would be even lower than it is now.

My district (Bobby Rush’s district, IL1) would certainly not be shaped as it is, if not for political factors.

Good grief. They may as well retitle the document “The Little Fascist Guide to Government Takeover.”

Beauregard Sessions, truly living his best life. Yeah, he’s mocked by his boss, he’s debased daily, but you don’t get that kind of opportunity to hurt black people twice.

I trust there are folks keeping track of all these changes by tRump appointees, so they can be put back aright once he leaves office—replaced by a Democratic President, presumably.

Jefferson Davis Beauregard Sessions is one of the few men in history and only U.S. Attorney General to actually have a racist name. It should be no surprise that he is living up to that name.

One more step in the Trump-Pence-Sessions-Repuglican move toward a white supremacist nation. This must be stopped!

Jefferson Neauregard Sessions III has just declared war on the very instruments of representative democracy in America.

Of course, it now promotes those things.

Under Attorney General Jeff Sessions, the Justice Department has removed language stressing the need to prevent racial gerrymandering from the manual used by federal prosecutors,

Before the section was removed in March, it affirmed that DOJ would support redistricting plans that are drawn to help minority communities achieve meaningful representation, and would fight racially gerrymandered plans that undermine minority voting power.

The handbook does still mention some voting rights issues, such as bans on literacy tests and poll taxes, Buzzfeed News noted.

for now…anyhow…

What would you expect from Jefferson (as in Jefferson Davis) Beauregard (as in P.G.T. Beauregard) Sessions III (as in, “We’ve been at this for a long time”).

Just look at all the long-standing problems in the country - racial inequality, income inequality, unequal representation, inadequate access to information - that are being erased simply by no longer acknowledging that they exist. It’s like a miracle.

Gee, I wonder why the Trump administration would be opposed to public trials?
