“DOJ Dismisses Alleged Census Case Bombshell As ‘Meritless’ And ‘Inflammatory’”

Barr’s DOJ is meritless and inflammatory.

There, fixed it for you

The Justice Department came out guns blazing in a court filing Monday evening denying many of the claims of new evidence and alleged false testimony in the census citizenship case.

So, they don’t have a leg to stand on, eh?

Fake DOJ…

Yup, trying to lie and bluster their way to a friendly SCOTUS (who will, of course, claim to believe that the DOJ wasn’t lying through it’s teeth).

A story on Chris Hayes just now discussing that fact that the ONLY thing the Senate has done…at least in this session…is blessing judges.

Please, please tell me we will survive this administration, the dark night of the destructive orange demon, and these Republican lickspittles and lemmings.

I think it’s safe to say here that you can judge the quality of the evidence and its potential impact by the aggressiveness of the gov’t’s response. If it was truly the nothingburger that they allege, their response would be on the scale of a nothing burger. In this case, their response is on scale with “Holy fuck! We are fucked eight ways to Sunday if the SupCt considers this evidence.”

The Justice Department called the ACLU’s allegations “meritless” and “inflammatory,” while comparing the ACLU’s arguments to the “conjuring ” of a “conspiracy theory involving a deceased political operative that essentially hinges on wordplay.”

So much projection…!

Why hasn’t Billy Barr been held in Contempt of Congress yet?

A long time ago, I heard a story that, during the Franco era, a Spanish government official said to a Swiss counterpart, “Switzerland is a landlocked nation. Why do you have a minister of the marine?”

To which the Swiss replied, “Why, in Spain, do you have a ministry of Justice?”

Seriously?

Who cares if it’s evidence?

To Barr’s DOJ using actual words to demonstrate facts is “wordplay”.

This is all they can do…the evidence pretty clearly connects the dots from the reasons that the idea of putting the question on the Census was created, and the way to slip it through, to the process that was used to generate the request from DoJ to add the question. It should be a slam dunk case, and that’s why they are reacting so strongly.

It’s too bad we don’t have Garland on the SC, if we did then this wouldn’t be a worry because there would be five votes for the Constitution. As it is, we’ll have to see how badly Roberts wants to protect the reputation of his SC vs how badly he wants to cement Republican domination of the country for the next decade.
