Trump: Another example of how successful I am in creating a really small govt. I just want the govt to consist of my small family. Tax payers will save billions.
Typical dumb as a rock woman!
edit: Jebus it looses all the effectiveness of satire if I have to explain a snark comment is snark. Come on folks, we’re smarter than that on this website!
Edit 2: And if anyone was offended or took it as real I apologize. I should realize not everyone knows me well enough to know most of my comments are meant as snark, So again, sorry.
The government will be smaller only in the number of employees. DT will then outsource all government services to Trump branded businesses. No tax payer savings, just a reallocation of resources.
When people act out of principle it inspires others to act out of principle.
Several people acting out of principle become a groundswell.
Groundswells have a way of becoming floods when not effectively countered, and there is no evidence that this administration has any of the capabilities necessary to effectively counter a groundswell of opposition.
Excuse me?
I sincerely hope that is snark.
I’m amazed she held on as long as she did. Talk about a hostile workplace…
People in her position need to stay. This is weakness… giving up, and walking away.
Yes, it’s hard to work for this administration. I met a recent hire working for the USAG in San Grancisco. Fellow thought when he applied last year, he’d be working for the Clinton administration and expressed deep frustration and disappointment in working for Trump/Sessions. But he understood that he still had a positive role to play, if only in the short term by slow-walking the orders from above (rather than allow an enthusiastic RW nut job to take his place), and, in the long run, who knows? Being there gives him opportunities, walking away closes the door to access and influence from within.
This is why Eric Holder told FBI employees to “stay strong” last week. It takes courage and fortitude to stick with it in times like these. Throwing in the towel and taking the easy out is a coward’s move.
Linkedin, that’s an interesting place to post that.
I’m not sure it’s fair to call this woman weak or a coward. She made a very effective public statement about Trump by giving her reason for resigning. If we had similar statements in the news on a daily basis, it would constitute a blaring call to do something about the incompetence and evil in this administration.
Sad, I would also stick it out. We need the career professionals to keep things running and prevent awful things from happening.
Another addition to Grover Norquist’s bathtub.
“Trying to hold companies to standards that our current administration is not living up to was creating a cognitive dissonance that I could not overcome,” she wrote.
This^^^^^
I feel her pain. Thank you Hui Chen for your public service to our country. At least you tried. That’s more than we can say for at least half of Congress right now. They simply don’t give a shit.
Putin’s Dickholster’s illegitimate Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch should demonstrate the same courage, respect for the Constitution and love of country and resign like Hui Chen did.
Sorry for a second rely. Have you ever been in a position where a boss told you to do something unethical or immoral (or possibly illegal) and sign your name to it? I have. The decision about whether to comply or give up work you value and a position which you have been devoted to is an extremely difficult one. I think it is unfair to judge.
Nor does tRump and Co. have the ability to figure out how to hire competent people to take their place. I’m guessing that position of hers will now remain unfilled as are so many positions in our government now.
I agree with Marby on this one, in that each situation is different, and in some cases resignation may be the best option, even though someone will follow you and do what you refused to do. In some cases, like the AUSA you met in SF, it might be more effective to stay.
But I can tell you as the spouse of a government lawyer, the rules of ethics trump (pun intended) what your boss tells you to do. It’s your ass on the line, not your boss’s, when you sign something, or do something unethical, even at the behest of your boss.
So really, it’s not so simple.
That’s what happened under St Ronnie. Fewer govt employees replaced by the Beltway bandits, at a much higher cost.
As the city planner in a relatively large industrial suburb I was told by the city attorney to sign s bogus project review. I told him to sign it.
I was looking for a new job about a year later. It turned out as more pay, less stress.
Bad idea…you dont’ want to be seen with Pelosi the corporatist in the Democratic Party that has sold out the middle class and turned over the base to Trump.
