Thank you -
OMG. That was sensational.
As you almost certainly know, at the time that Robert Byrd was an active racist, that was very common among the Democrats who later became Republicans with Richard Nixonâs Southern Strategy. And, as you also almost certainly know, Byrd recognized the error of his beliefs and actions and, unlike many other Dixiecrats including younger sociopaths like Trent Lott, did not decide to become a Republican.
What a shocker, huh? The whitewashed party of blueblood wannabes that pines for hate speech and neo minstrel shows and other historic masquerades to prop up their inadequaciesâŚ
One of the fun things that happens when a politician is caught appealing to a racist constituency is that we get to go back in history, almost to the question of who fired the first shot at Fort Sumter, searching for examples of politicians making racist statements with an âRâ or a âDâ by his name to trump the other team. Itâs a phenomenon that Iâm very familiar with by this point, most certainly.
Ever since this story broke the Internet as been full of references to Robert Byrd, Harry Reid, Louis Farrakhan etc. My comment was meant as a snarky response to that inevitable, eternal search for equivalencies that usually supplants any real introspection.
We definitely need a snark tag.
Man, theyâre pathetically predictable. (Iâm sure you understand why I canât bring myself to thank you for that linkâŚ)
