Discussion: DNC Chair Releases Statement On Sanders Camp Accessing Clinton Voter Information

Discussion for article #243946

I think the real question isn’t Sanders himself but his staff. Heck, no candidate can fully control the action of his or her staff. The real resolution was carried in the DNC’s response: has Sanders treated the issue by apologizing, putting some sanctions on those who did access the data and take steps to ensure it won’t happen again. If so, I suspect his campaign will very soon be able to access his own data and the problem is solved, eh?

Wasserman would have been better suited to run Tammany Hall.

This is a strange arrangement–two opposing camps bring their valuables to one place for holding. I assume both had detailed agreements as to how this would work, and the punishments for taking the other’s stuff.

Yes - his campaign manned up, admitted it happened and fired the staffer responsible. The DNC, I think, is being too slow to get this behind everyone.

To slow? Its Friday this happened late Thursday. my god your right that less then 24 hours is going to be what sinks the Sander campaign, this is all a massive coverup to stop Sanders sky rocketing rise in the polls.

When you are using a system that is supposed to prevent you from getting to anything you aren’t supposed to get to, you assume that what you can get to is permitted. I’m not sure that the fired person(s) should be fired, or that the Sanders campaign should be raked over the coals.

PS: Hillary for president!

That’s pretty ignorant of IT. What you do is go through the process to show there is a problem, then report said problem. Talk to any IT guy in the world and you’ll learn that.

Nothing wrong here but the company holding the data and the DNC response.

Fire DWS!!! If for no other reason that at a time when Democrats should be united she is taking info such as this and leaking it to the press, and dividing democrats. She fails to include in her statement that the Sanders campaign reported the same breach over a month ago (and did not inform the press so yes it could have been kept quiet until the facts came out). This database firewall has been breached several times. So DWS hires a shoody company and blames Sanders… she is a disgrace

The guys who got the data were users. It isn’t the user’s responsibility to understand the (exceedingly complicated!) security rules and to police them.

In addition…no firewall and simple searches will give you results from both campaigns

Wasserman needs to STFU and drop it, posthaste. “This is an internal matter and has been resolved. No further public comment.”

God, I can’t fucking stand her. This is not all-about-Debbie-time and her handling of it is myopic, self-serving and damaging.

You act like they would even know what the files were. It could have just been as simple as a search query. You don’t restrict a search to terms that you assume to be already true (Sanders only)

Do you see what you are accomplishing, Derpy Debbie? Hmmmm?

RESOLVE AND END IT NOW.

So Sanders broke a agreement, the DNC blocks access to the data as the agreement says is what would happen.

There is a way for the Sanders campaign to regain access and clear this up.

But instead its hair on fire reaction.

"Once the DNC became aware that the Sanders campaign had inappropriately and systematically accessed Clinton campaign data …

Wow a 45 minute breach by the IT company Debbie hired, but the Sanders people were ready. Debbie is a liar, she must resign. I will not vote for Clinton while she remains associated with the DNC in any capacity whatsoever.

How about instead of the inflamatory press release, we get a release of every breach, including the one of Sanders data in October. Who got that data? What did they get? Was that access “inappropriate and systematic”? Why did that breach not rate a press release?

It’s given Debbie plenty of time to blow this up with inflammatory actions and press releases, too bad she didn’t work to put it behind her. She may have cost Clinton the presidency by creating a large number of disaffected Democrats who just stay home.

The Sanders campaign has previously reported breaches where their data could have been accessed. They didnt go to the press. Debbie went straight to the press before most of the facts were out. Take a look at twitter and #FireDWS

You know this how? In a competently run IT system the administrators don’t give anyone access to data they are not entitle to. Sanders people discovered the problem and reported it, and that is more than they should have been required to do. Debbie is way out of line.

I know this because they admitted to it.
If this was all just nothing, then they file a report and do a audit and then gain access to the data again.

Its been less then a day.
