Seems just like a formality. He’ll serve the Obama Administration but sent this resignation letter today. I guess he sent it to be clear to the transition team that he’s not staying on.

From his statement, “I got 64 days left and I think I’d have a hard time with my wife if anything past that.” I understood that he was staying until Obama left office, just getting his travelling papers in ahead of the coming tsunami of resignations.

Unless there’a a lot we don’t know (and I sure hope there is) his record looks pretty sorry. This job no longer belongs in the hands of a general or admiral, but a skinny skilled gamer who is a patriotic and has senses of loyalty and history.
Yeah, when they started talking about creating a Muslim registry I thought the stink of 1930’s Germany would cause an outrage and put a stop to it.

We should be repeating this everywhere. The last time we had a new administration come in and actively ignore the work of the previous admin, we got 9-11 and two wars and ISIS. We have to seriously prepare for another 9-11 style disaster, because the new watchmen are going to be busy f*cking chickens to bother guarding the roost.

During the Reagan Administration, I began to regard the Nixon Administration as moderate and really policy wonky. During the GWB Administration my mind tricked me into regarding the Reagan Administration as marginally enlightened and non-philistine in comparison. Now, damn you Donald Fucking Trump for what I anticipate will be my own psychological revisionism of W and the fucking Neanderthals who walked the earth with him.

Couldn’t agree more. No doubt Rump will turn a blind eye to the worst of Putin’s savagery. What ends up happening to the UN Security Council, I couldn’t even hazard a guess.
As I said yesterday, I believe this is going to be part and parcel of Rump’s eventual impeachment and that the GOP may very well use stuff like this to bring him down. For many in State (or Deep State) this is gonna be a bridge too far. No one, even establishment Rethugs, want anything to do with this potentially treasonous debacle.
