Well, of course. There were plenty of peacemakers on the scene:
Police said Wednesday about 1,000 weapons were recovered from the scene, but later revised that to 318 “and still counting,” including an AK-47 assault rifle, handguns, knives, brass knuckles, clubs and chains.
Another couple hundred firearms and those boys would have been baking pies together to sell for charity.

You may be a felonious scumbag, but if you are a WHITE Â felonious scumbag, you are still eligible for valet treatment by the cops. The nice thing about white privilege is that you never have to think about it (if you are white).

Given the respect and deference the police are giving heavily armed bikers it could be argued that the black community has to be heavily armed as well.

Why would I be surprised, disgusted or dismayed if heavily-armed gang members killed each other?

Yeah, there’s a part of me that wishes both biker gangs had hand grenades and RPGs so there’d be even more dead ones, but it was in a public place with restaurant staff and other bystanders who could have been injured.

Bikers just aren’t lucky enough to be one of the classic, overused political tropes easily cut and pasted into the same old endless fights by the entrenched political and media elites. Plus, bikers can ride to DC and NYC to do damage that would make the Savopoulos murders look like a day at the beach.
There were certainly a lot of differences between the Waco biker gang shootout versus the Baltimore protests and riots, so any direct comparison of the two events will be flawed. So, if we want to play this game, we need a situation with more similarities. What would happen if a few street gangs with mostly urban youth (yes, I mean poor, black or brown teens) gathered to beat up on each other somewhere, and the police knew about it in advance?
Well, it’s funny I should ask myself that question, because this just happened in Boston:
Nobody died, but nine arrests were made and three guns were seized. It did not cause a media frenzy, even though, given the timing and the location, this could have been much nastier in terms of civilian casualties had the BPD not intervened.
It rated two paragraphs in the Boston Globe. It’s not on the top of anyone’s list, and barely any of the typical Globe hate-baiters have shown up to comment.

Maybe it’s just that the BPD has been following a more disciplined path lately, with many good stories where dangerous situations are handled without gunfire or police brutality, but I think gang-on-gang violence just starts out with a very different news profile, as long as civilians are not pulled into it.

Good example - I really hate these comparisons just because these guys are white doing crime. It’s really a false equivalence that people had to make just because, you know, the internet.

Yes, it’s always “false equivalence” when you’re white. For example, I had a tail light that was out for three months because I kept forgetting to get it fixed. And yet, in that entire time, I was never once pulled over and then searched or subjected to drug sniffing dogs.
Totally false equivalence, however, because I had an SUV and thus looked suburban and not at all out of place.

That may very well be the case. If you notice the police are shooting and killing UNARMED Black men, not ARMED black men (except in the case of those that held toy guns). Point is, they are not shooting ARMED Black men. The police LIE that they thought the Black men were armed.

There’s also the fact that Waco is a place nobody ever goes and most people would have trouble locating on a map. It’s not just flyover territory, it’s nowhereland.
Waco just doesn’t have the same resonance as a major metropolitan area where people actually live, like St. Louis or B’more. It seems like a fictional place where you might set a TV series about bikers.

Versus nine dead and 318 weapons seized in Waco. The scale is so vastly different that I don’t think this is a good comparison either.
