Discussion: Did The Supreme Court Just Broaden The Hobby Lobby Exemption?

Discussion for article #224731

These rulings by the old boys seem impeachable. Can someone clarify for me what’s the deal there?

This is Kochtastic.

They’re doing a judicial “executive action” to “clarify” the ruling…and in the execution of that order, they have expanded the “narrow ruling” of the Hobby Lobby decision to encompass ALL TWENTY forms of birth control. Narrow ruling, my ass.

I’m beginning to wonder if the Five Supremes, two of whom have direct ties to the Kochs, are not deliberately undermining confidence in the Supreme Court and the other two branches as a general assault on the legitimacy of the federal government.

Sad to say, but treason seems a more believable motive than legal stupidity on their parts.

…Proof that the K-RATS have no ethics…

I’m considering revisiting the belief I’ve held to for a number of years now that legislatures have the authority to pass bills that might become laws, that executives such as presidents, governors and mayors, have the authority to sign those bills into law, and that any of the people who’ve ever served in American legislatures or as such executives was ever properly elected to office.

One reason for my examining my beliefs in these regards is that I have not participated personally in every step of every single election of every single legislator or head of administration; indeed, while I’ve voted a lot, and even served from time to time in official capacities in elections and in government, not once have I ever seen and counted each and every ballot cast in even a single election.

Another reason is I’ve come to realize that first reason since converting to the Holy Mother Church of If I Didn’t See It With My Own Eyes It Never Happened (Or “Nopers”, as in our prime catechism: Sorry, didn’t see it, so, nope, far as I’m concerned, it never happened.")

And the nice thing about my conversion to Noperism is, that now with the Hobby Lobby decision, I’m totally free to disregard every law I’m dubious about with impunity. So, we expect lots more converts!

I’d attribute it to misogyny and Catholicism.

Indeed.

Each day I feel more naive and abused by the top institutions in this country. For the longest time, I have just written congress in general off, both parties… one more than the other, dismissing them as slimy politicians.

I -had- trust in the SCOTUS to lead the way from a supposedly moral/legal high ground. Positions where they are put into place for life with the hope that they need not kowtow to political parties. … and now the SCOTUS seems nothing but another tool to enact the agenda of whichever party gets the most votes on the bench. I feel sick.

Perhaps I am just simply naive and it has always been this way.

To quote Shakespeare: “This is not, nor it cannot come to good.”
