Bigger question: Now that they have seen the video, what will they do?
It’s not the crime, it’s the cover up.
Not only do I remember reporting about NFL officials viewing the elevator interior footage, I remember reporting from a tape viewer trying to soften Rice’s actions by saying the girlfriend had struck first…
There isn’t much the NFL can do from a Collective Bargaining standpoint. He’s already been punished. There isn’t any new incident for which they can punish him. Now, perhaps the team could punish him, as I’m not aware of any sanction they’ve imposed.
Too much fucking testosterone!!!
If they didn’t see the video then Goodell should resign. You can’t run a through investigation without all the facts. If they did see the video and lie about then the same thing applies.
Good question. Because 2 game suspension is complete bullshit, even if its true they didn’t see the entire video…If they did, they’re is going to be absolutely no excuse that will ever suffice coming from the NFL muckety-mucks.
Boys will be boys…
until someone holds them accountable for their actions.
Anyone efforting a Jay Z or Solange reaction?
An even bigger question: why does seeing the video make a difference? You have a player who’s knocked out a woman (his fiance no less) and hand him a paltry 2 game suspension. Why does seeing the knock out make it any worse? What should it matter?
But sadly this is unsurprising. Professional sports has been turning a blind eye to domestic violence since conception. Usually it’s the second-stringers or player’s having a bad season that are made examples of.
We, unfortunately, live in the Social Media Era. If it isn’t on YouTube, it didn’t happen.
Between Donald “Old Creeper” Sterling and now the fincee beater, it looks like TMZ wants to be the whistleblower on misbehaving sports figures.
Thus assuring the long term viability of the site
The first thing a TV news producer asks about a new story: is there video? Is there audio? It makes all the difference in click views and cable boxes.
If there was no ISIS beheading video, the cable news channels would not be breathlessly scaring the bejesus out of its viewers right now.
I’m betting that hell yes they did but didn’t want to start the season under yet another black cloud (no pun intended).
Stand Ray Rice up in front of all the sports reporters and the wives around the league and let him explain why he should only get this petty suspension.
He should do the right thing and stand up and say, I did it and there is no excuse and I don’t want special treatment. I’m willing to be the example for the good of my wife, my teammates, the league and myself.
Of course he never will, so he can live-then die with it.
4-game suspension…
RayRice Ravens contract terminated…
They will terminate his contract.
They found something in the rules. rice just suspended indefinitely by NFL, as well as being fired by Ravens.
