Discussion: Did Scalia And Company Already Hint That They Won't Gut Obamacare?

Discussion for article #225497

The SupremeCorporation K-RATS don’t need to deliberate…

Koch addiction makes it an unnecessary .

Scalia doesn’t rely on internal consistency…even his own words are often ignored to fuel his ODS rantings.

Roberts maybe…I still think he might be trying to preserve some legacy of ‘his’ court as being something other than a tool for the RWNJ’s…but even that is fading fast.

" … even if it might look a little strange …"

Yeah, I’m comforted.

These political appointees make it up as they go along.

It is adorable that someone would think Scalia would be consistent if he can screw over Obama to do otherwise.

If Scalia doesn’t screw Americans over this time, watch for him to make sure a Republican becomes President next election, like SCOTUS did with Chimipy the Decider.

Sandra Day O’Connor had a bigger role in deciding on “The Decider” than is understood. I would have said “credit” but it’s more like “blame.”

This whole mess is win-win for the Dems. The GOP look like obstructionists AGAIN.

How can they show their hands?

Scalia’s are on his dick,
Roberts’ are on his wallet,
Alito’s are in Scalia’s pockets, searching for a borrowed legacy,
Thomas’s are both over his mouth, in case he EVER gets the urge to say something,

And the rest’s are waving in the air, yelling “save us!!!”

Well, to be accurate, that’s kind of their job.

I for one don’t think Scalia, Thomas, Alito, or Kennedy would hesitate for a second to reverse themselves if it meant kicking the Obama administration in the balls one more time.

That said, I think Roberts would be reluctant to strip subsidies from millions of Americans for the simple reason that it’s the “Roberts Court” and he doesn’t want to seem like too much of an asshole.

But IMO it’s unlikely it will even make it to SCOTUS.

Much of our mess could have been avoided if Scalia’s parent’s practiced safe sex.

Dylan, you are assuming the conservatives on the SCOTUS are rational actors, and not ideological partisan hacks. I’m not sure if that is a good assumption, especially with Scalia.

I think if Roberts were to kill it, he would have done it last time (before coverage through exchanges began) rather than after 5 million (or more) have coverage.

Its pretty much impossible for a Republican to get elected president in 2016. The demographic timebomb has exploded.

Yes, so disappointing. You can pretty much say she helped give us Alito too. O’Connor was the commencement speaker at my niece’s graduation several years ago. I was so split sitting there listening to her that day. On the one hand she was a pioneer of women reaching the highest levels in the land, and on the other……I just shook my head and thought of what could have been.

If anyone really thought there were a significant probability of the ACA being overturned, the stocks of healthcare companies, particularly insurers, who have invested billions in totally retooling their models to meet the new law, would be falling like rocks. They are not. In fact, they have risen since the Appeals Court decision.

Stop fretting people! TPM is just trying to grab eyeballs.

This is the best description of the current SCOTUS I have read - it sums up their behaviors and rulings expertly!

For those of you thinking of voting third party because Clinton is too “corporatist”, this Supreme Court is YOUR FAULT!

Anyone know if Scalia plans on flying over Eastern Ukraine?
