Discussion: Did Marco Rubio Walk Into A Rape Exemption Abortion Trap?

Discussion for article #239181

The first politician who actually acts to remove politics from the abortion issue, is over-qualified for the jobā€¦

Children of rape need to realize that because a particular intervention means that they would never have been born does not mean that that intervention is evil. What if the rape through which they were conceived had been prevented. Would they think that that was wrong?

Really, The news is that The Flatfoot ā„¢ couldnā€™t walk out of it.

New campaign slogan. .

ā€œJust because I sponsored it doesnā€™t mean Iā€™m for itā€

Oh, so this is just one example of why itā€™s called the GOP Klown Kar, eh?.

As my late Italian grandpa would say: ā€œgruppo di pagliacciā€.

I can hear him saying it about GOPers in particular.

Wasnā€™t Rubio Batistaā€™s VP back before the Cuban Revolution?

Letā€™s not kid ourselves. Any of these folks running would be at the doctors or OBGYN door if their spouse or child had a problem pregnancy, life was at risk or was raped. Hard cases make bad law.

Men absolutely need to control womenā€™s bodies with more government regulations. Women should not be allowed to make decisions about their own bodies.

so telling that the only issue republicans want to talk about concerning women, is how to control them. right down to saying we would rather have you die than give you control of your own body.

no words about income inequality, domestic violence, glass ceilings, justice. nothing

He missed the easy answer, ā€œIf everyone had moar gunz, thereā€™d be no rapinā€™ of da womenz!ā€

Itā€™s going to be a while before RubeE-Oā€™ can be assessed objectively. Tweety Matthews and Chuck Toadā€™ were so ecstatic, so overwhelmed with excitement and fapping over ā€˜youthfulā€™ā€¦ā€˜new generationalā€™ā€¦ā€˜calmingā€™ā€¦ā€˜soundā€™ā€¦ā€˜presidentialā€™ā€¦blah, blah, blahā€¦Marco, and making him the ā€˜most dangerousā€™ candidate for the Democrats to face, WHAT he said seemed irrelevant.

Poor marco . . . . he had well rehearsed answers in last nightā€™s debate, even if they didnā€™t directly address the questions. When he had to answer a real question like this one, he stepped in it. Of course there were no follow-up questions so he thought he was able to weasel out of it without consequence. But today the fact checkers are shredding him.
While rubio may be the most youthful and articulate republican running, heā€™s clearly not ready for prime-time.

From what I saw last night, heā€™s not that articulate. It was so clear that he can give a memorized answer or a snarky one liner. Iā€™m sure he was loads of fun at his fraternity in college but heā€™s not by any sense of the word dangerous and not even in the same zip code as intelligent. And as his waist band continues to expand and his hairline continues to recede, he will no longer be the pretty, pretty boy that everyone loves to swoon over.

Well said. May I add also that this guyā€™s ā€œlatinā€ cred. is only present in the minds of people with an extremely limited knowledge of the Latin-American experienceā€¦Central American, Caribbean, Mexican, South American ā€œSpanish Mainā€ countries, Southern part of South America, etc.

Rubio has always been aware of this fact, which makes him, as a ā€œLatinoā€, far more popular with Barney Fife than ā€œfulanoā€ (Latino)

While I certainly hope we donā€™t get a Republican President in 2016, remember that 40% of American women consistently vote Republican. They know what theyā€™re getting, and if and when their own rights to determine how and when they have children are curtailed, even at times of great stress such as rape, I remind myself that Republicans can never be elected without womenā€™s support. If women really wanted freedom over their own reproductive rights we could be rid of every GOPer the next election, but they donā€™t so really I stopped caring. If they wake up one day? Great, if not then they must suffer the consequences of limited rights.

ā€œI have advocated that we pass a law that says all human life at every stage of development is worthy of protection.ā€ā€¦

Except after birth, of course. Letā€™s never forget that babies are on their own in this country according to conservatives. They can feed, clothe and school themselves. Nobody in the GOP is ever going to protect them from the poverty in which they were born. As a very astute Catholic nun commented last week, the GOP is Pro Birth not Pro Life.

Rubio is a weak sister and canā€™t even convince anyone that heā€™s Hispanic. The Koch Brothers are obviously keeping him around as a possible VP draft while hoping Walker can gain some traction for the top of the ticket slot. With Trump taking up all the air in the room, itā€™s hard to see how either of these two rise above the rest.

Unless one of them is willing to shout, ā€œLet them all die,ā€ they are just Establishment types with no appeal at the TeaParty primary box office.

Actually, Rubio is in favor of abortion. He wants every other GOP candidate to perform one on their aspirations so he can shoot to the top. Thatā€™s pretty much the only way heā€™ll get there.
