In other words, no real forethought was given by the Trump White House to anything but the symbolic enactment of this particular Executive Order, even though Team Trump had months to plan it. Details of how the EO would be implemented are still being worked out in reaction to the public reaction and the Court injunctions. This is exactly how Donald Trump’s family businesses have been run under his tutelage. I guess it wouldnt have been so awful if he had first served as City Councilman or Dog Catcher or something before being the President.
Basically, this is an administration with no one in charge.
The gang who couldn’t shoot straight.
There was confusion over whether the order applied to those with greed cards.
A Freudian slip for the ages.
So they’re just making this up as they’re going along, right?
Sorry, Trump’s not qualified for those positions either
Including the forethought to, you know, inform this guy about the EO. He quite literally found out about it on a plane trip back to D.C., watching the President signing the EO.
Part of the problem here is that implementation will always be a disaster, but they have Bannon whispering in Trump’s ear telling him that these disasters are precisely what they want to sow chaos across the nation and the world. So Trump is hearing that its a feature, not a bug, on a near daily basis.
Pretty much .
See! See! I fulfilled my campaign promises.
Lookit all the stuff I signed…
Haven’t you seen how I hold up my beautiful leather-bound executive orders with my great and impressive signature on them.
You should be impressed.
Am I a great smart and powerful president or what ?

Just like pointed out on another thread: DHS didn’t contact the airlines until Sunday night so that the airlines could stop people before they got on a plane.
Duncy of Confederates.
All will have to bow down to Donald Trump!!!
To be absolutely sincere and lacking in any snark, or glee even, I can truthfully say that during my entire life on this planet, I never thought I would ever see the likes of
There’s a story I heard in college about Martin Scorsese’s dealings with the MPAA over “Casino.” In one cut submitted to the MPAA, a man has his head in a tightening vice, and at one point, his eyeball pops out. The MPAA reviewers threatened an NC-17 unless the scene was cut. In fact, Scorsese never intended for the eyeball scene to be in the film – it was outrage bait so the board would not concern itself with other scenes.
I think the green card rule was Trump’s eyeball scene, an obvious overstep designed as a distraction. Now that it’s gone, he’s hoping people will calm down.
We should not calm down.
Yes, chaos is a feature, not a bug. On the other hand, it will be useful for Dems to push on the chaos/amateurishness by pointing out they had to backtrack on green card holders. I realize that “nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah, you had to backtrack!” isn’t the normal way to communicate with an administration, but it’s language they understand.
They think running the United States of America is a game of Calvinball.
Steve Bannon is in charge. We are a Bannon Republic now.
What’s that old saw about even a broken clock is right twice a day…?
Today happens to be the 96th birthday Fred Korematsu, the named plaintiff of the case challenging the internment of Japanese-Americans after Pearl Harbor. Though he lost the case, in the end he was vindicated and compensation was paid to those interned and an official apology made.
Here is what President George HW Bush said in 1991: “In remembering, it is important to come to grips with the past. No nation can fully understand itself or find its place in the world if it does not look with clear eyes at all the glories and disgraces of its past. We in the United States acknowledge such an injustice in our history. The internment of Americans of Japanese ancestry was a great injustice, and it will never be repeated.”
We are being ruled not by the person who won the EC but by people he chose, not vetted by any elected official.
You know, I would probably concur if it weren’t Don the Con who goes back to defend and justify everything, especially when he makes a huge mistake.
Bannon, possibly, although he has to be careful not to let Donnie get lambasted too often, because at some point Donnie will turn on him. Of course, Kushner is just waiting for that, so, who knows, maybe you are right.
Me, I just think it’s a particularly volatile combination of ideology and inexperience. Am waiting for the inevitable implosion
