Betsy DeVos, with her charter school crusade, is akin to a government moocher. She wants government money to prevent kids from learning socially responsible behaviors. She, herself, is socially unacceptable, and is a threat to our children’s present and future.

We go through each day hearing multitudes of Dullard’s garble their way through preposterous dialogue about concepts they clearly don’t understand…however when a a really ignorant fool makes a point like this it hits you like a ton of bricks.A person who has literally purchased a cabinet position sounding as though she has never set foot in an educational facility of any kind…

I share her stated goal as an expression of the ideal but perhaps she should have it scored by the CBO and then compare the cost of the ideal to the real world education budget and calculate the tax rate required to fund a system that “meet[s] the needs of the individual students.” Billionaires can shoulder the cost, even to the extent of hiring a private tutor in every area of study, but the unwashed masses have to deal with an economic reality that DeVos has never experienced.

The push for School Choice is not so much about choice, but rather a return to segregation. After that is accomplished, Public schools will be defunded. And here you were thinking the Civil War was over.

I reside in a NYC neighborhood where the schools are fairly good. They educate kids from varying backgrounds. They did not get that way because of some false “choice” The Catholic schools are ok but one closed due to a decline in enrollment from 2000 to around 200.
Parents found the public schools to be superior without some voucher. There is one charter which started as a experiment like many did in the early 90’s before hedge funds and the DeVos’ got their grubby hands on them. There is opposition in the neighborhood to expanding the number of charter schools from not only parents but from the principal of the charter. Ms. DeVos really needs to get around but she seems to be more intent in her words “hastening the kingdom of Christ”.

Read between the lines here.
ALL of the “School Choice” smokescreen is there only to hide the TRUE agenda: FUNDAMENTALIST CHRISTIAN INDOCTRINATION at the tax-payers expense.
DeVos is a fanatic looking to appropriate federal tax dollars to fund her American Taliban MADRASAS.
That is all it is about, that is all it has ALWAYS been about.

From which we can know that her own education was deficient on history, metaphors, rhetoric and critical thinking because vouchers are not “choice.” Her idea of “choice” is just a new entitlement program for the comfortable to go to class-segregated schools. It has nothing to do with any empirical proof of better education results, as voucherized schools have produced no better results where they’ve been tried, and often have worse outcomes for the students enrolled there.

This is what we need. A Secretary of Education who despises and looks down on her constituents, listens only to those who tell her what she wants to hear, and whose only interest is monetizing your children to fund a permanent GOP dictatorship.

And the part of “profit” seems to be the dark little secret they try to hide. To continually increase the profit from the endeavor they will have to cut teacher pay, increase class size, and hike tuition.

School Choice Opponents Are Akin To ‘Flat-Earthers’
Hearing a GOPer use the term “Flat Earther” is the height of Irony as “Flat -Earthers” basically are the same thing as Climate Change Deniers.
Instead of using her billions to buy a cabinet position, why didn’t she use it to fund scholarships and reduce student debt? I think it’s obvious exactly who benefits from her philosophy - her cronies in the for-profit education scam-o-rama business.
