Discussion: DeVos’ Inspector General To Audit Dismissals Of Civil Rights Complaints

Racism is not a bug, but a feature of Batzi DeVos.

She is a walking example of how inheritance + weird values is not a good resume for a cabinet job.

The Office of Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Education has announced that it is scrutinizing how the department handles civil rights complaints

You mean besides immediately throwing them in the trash?

Amidst scores of toady appointments, is there anyone LESS QUALIFIED? Pathetic.

There used to be a popular bumpersticker in Holland, Michigan, where Betsy lives: “If you ain’t Dutch, you ain’t much.”

Dunno if it still is. But I think her predjudice likely extends far past race, tho it undoubtedly starts there.

Well , Ms DeVious is making it harder to prove a sexual assault happened .

True that. It is a feature all Republican Administrations. It is in their blood:

In “almost every significant area,” he observed, Bush appointees ignored the reality “of the American experience with race.” They tried to shut down voluntary school-desegregation efforts, even though overwhelming evidence showed that segregation remained a serious problem. And they did virtually nothing to stop the predatory and discriminatory lending practices that targeted inner-city residents and were “at the very fore of the financial collapse.”

However if you are not a POC then the DOJ TJD will gladly file a lawsuit:

…the Trump Justice Department has decided to focus on investigating and suing universities with affirmative-action programs that the department deems to have discriminated against white students. The document uses bland language, saying a new project will focus on “intentional race-based discrimination,” which obscures the magnitude of the shift involved.

I think Boopsy DeVos and Uncle Ben Carson are in a dead heat.

I’m going to go out on a limb and state that they will find that DeVos is completely corrupt and incompetent. As @maximus noted above, it’s a tie between her and Carson. Although, Rick “Smart Glasses” Perry is apparently still Secretary of Energy.

The GOP doesn’t recognize civil rights, so it dismisses many cases of same.

I would agree, except that Carson at least demonstrated some skill at something in his life. Just because that one skill has no bearing on his fitness for his present appointment doesn’t mean his life has been entirely devoid of usefulness. DeVos, on the other hand, doesn’t really seem to be able to put her own socks on without getting them backward.

DeVos and Trump are great examples of why we need to significantly raise the Inheritance Tax for the top 0.1%

Unqualified, yes, but she’s been pretty effective at doing what Trumpp wants done and at not doing what he doesn’t want done.

Catherine Lhamon, who led the department’s civil rights office from August 2013 until January 2017 and currently chairs the United States Commission on Civil Rights, said that the new audit is badly needed.

She’s one we are going to hear more from in the future. Check out her linked bio. I don’t know if she has an interest in life as a judge, but if she does, I wouldn’t be shocked to see her get an appointment when sanity and competence returns to the White House.

I worked with her very cool mom back when Catherine was just a whip-smart, friendly, enthusiastic, and mature high schooler. Her mom didn’t have money or connections to give her a head start, but she gave her everything else a mom could give a child that had great potential. I’m thrilled to see how much she’s accomplished.
