Can’t wait for Senator Franken to grill Ms. Devos again at her next apparence before his committee. Oh wait! Thanks Ms. Gillibrand…

“This young man”? You mean “this young white nationalist”?

Ah Betsy, you already have much of the left in the country deeply critical and suspicious of you - now you are wading into alienating large swaths of your boss’s base. If you were so disturbed by a few people protesting you at a school visit within your first few weeks on the job, that you recieved a security detail - I can only imagine how disturbed you might be in reading some of the vitriol and invective that is most certainly heading your way for even these vague - policyless comments are threats to those who are already considering the shooting to be not a tragedy, but a false flag gun grabber operation.

“‘…it seems to be clear that this young man put up lots and lots of signals and warning signs,’ DeVos said.”

Yea, the most significant warning being that he owned an AR-15.

On the plus side, she’s right. It’s up to Congress to act.

Trump said that there were “many signs” that the alleged shooter was “mentally disturbed” and urged people to report “such instances” to law enforcement.

Problem is, law enforcement is not equipped to deal with mental problems. They usually end up shooting the mentally disturbed person, not helping them.

“We’ve seen, you know, lots of finger pointing back and forth,” she said during an interview with conservative radio personality Hugh Hewitt. “But we need to have a conversation at the level where lawmakers can actually impact the future, because going back and putting myself in the seat of one of those families impacted, you know, one of these shootings is one too many. And we have got to have an honest conversation and Congress has to lead on this. It’s their job.”

“Congress needs to be holding hearings on these issues. And we’ve seen lots of discussion about this every time we’ve had another incident,” she said. DeVos’s call for congressional action echoed statements earlier Thursday by another member of the administration, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, who also suggested Congress should take action to address mass shootings without specifying what form that action should take.

“There apparently were lots of signs and I think it’s critically important that we have a much more robust conversation around tracking and tackling mental health issues and really bringing this all together because it seems to be clear that this young man put up lots and lots of signals and warning signs,” DeVos said.

Pretty bold words from an unqualified dilettante whose brother is a paid killer with connections to both Russian and Chinese Intelligence.

I see what you did there. Brilliant.

Here’s the one signal he was waiting for…

The Florida shooter bought his AR-15 legally last year- just one week after Donald Trump removed federal restrictions preventing people with mental illnesses from purchasing firearms.

A couple weeks ago I started to suspect Franken was encouraged to leave the Senate because he broke the Senate rules in going after a fellow Senator. A very senior Southern Senator at that. It is a very exclusive club and they have rules on how to treat each other. Maybe he can start on another book titled " Giant long Knives of the Senate".

I could have said more, but if I had, it would have been to criticize this cabinet secretary who is so into rolling back protections, that its inevitable that she will roll back one that completely contradicts what she just said.

wait a sec

And a bla bla thoughts and prayers to you and thanks for your efforts to dismantle the public school system.

Meanwhile
President Trump emphasized school safety and mental health in a speech after the shooting in Florida, but avoided mention of gun control
and he’s got 21 million reasons why not

I understand that the Republicans used to get quite dismayed when Obama would respond to events like this with a bunch of genuine & sincere compassion and demonstrate deep humanity by embracing the families of the victims

Thankfully we now have superficial Republicans to quickly react with “cover their ass” double speak and superficial mombo-jumbo that stresses how there just is no way to avert disasters like this - it really makes America grate again

Betsy DeVious urged Congress to take the “lead” on enacting changes that could stop gun massacres in the U.S. “It’s their job,” she claimed.

A helpful first step would be a mandatory 72-hour waiting period before the NRA can buy a Congressman.

Congress can’t hold real hearing where they actually do something, because the GOP Congresscritters are being held hostage by the NRA. If they do anything, the NRA will sponsor someone to run against them.

For a second, I thought she might really be saying something. And then I read:

“But we need to have a conversation at the level where lawmakers can actually impact the future, because going back and putting myself in the seat of one of those families impacted, you know, one of these shootings is one too many. And we have got to have an honest conversation and Congress has to lead on this. It’s their job.”

I am so tired of word salad.
