Discussion: Deutsche Bank Nixes Plan To Expand In North Carolina Over Anti-LGBT Law

North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory (R) signed the legislation into law in
March after lawmakers held a special legislative session to rush the
bill through.

And how’s that working out for you?

The law directs public bathrooms to require people to use the restroom that corresponds to the sex on their birth certificate

So, since transgendered people do exist, doesn’t this just guarantee that the very scenario that conservatives claim to be worried about – kids seeing people who appear to be of a different gender using the same restroom – happens more often?

In other words, if I’m born anatomically male, and that’s what it says on my birth certificate, but I dress as a woman (and perhaps have had gender reassignment surgery, hormones, etc) and I look like a woman, this law says I must take my female-looking body into a men’s restroom. Isn’t that the very sort of “confusing for kids” situation that conservatives say they want to prevent?

Saves these companies money and they get to look rightious in the process. Win win for them.

Well obviously, in such case, the answer is that you have no business trying to pee in any public restroom and need to keep your horrible self at home and live in the shame that is your just due.

Knowing how these things work after years of dealing with high level state officials in all but 2 states, one can bet NC officials and even the Governor’s staff are furiously working to try and meet with Deutsche Bank high level executives to explain:
-you don’t understand the law!
-it’s been getting bad press that is undeserved!
-wait, give it a chance and you’ll see your reservations are misconstrued!
-no, don’t hold back on those jobs merely since we passed a law that really doesn’t do much at al!
In essence…everything but the truth!

In fact, what is likely happening (I’ve seen this before btw) is that both PayPal and Deutsche’s execs and attorneys refuse all meeting requests with any and all NC politicos. This has more to do with sending a ‘message’ but also preserving the time of these valuable folks from holding endless and meaningless meetings where the NC folks simply want to prove these firms are wrong about the legislation. It’s funny but the NC politicos assume that these same highly paid, well educated and well seasoned business pros can’t read legislation that is quite clear in its discriminatory objectives! What dolts to make these assumptions!

“Deutsche Bank Nixes Plan To Expand In North Carolina Over Anti-LGBT Law.”

Good to see bankers care so deeply about human rights.

Not so much in Iran or Saudi Arabia, where they’ve invested heavily.

And where anti-LGBT laws result in, you know, executions.

But at least in North Carolina.

Looks like the market is deciding.

Honestly, not to defend bankers (ugh) but it’s not like Iran or Saudi Arabia will ever actually change based on the actions of a megabank.

Maybe North Carolina could invite russian Sberbank instead. It looks like they could find a common language on several subjects.

Thank you Deutsche Bank! How long until NC’s ‘leaders’ stop hurting their state?
