While I’ve lost the vast, vast majority of the respect I once had for Carson, he was a fantastic surgeon. He treated my sister when she was hit by a car in 1987 (she was 4 years old) and was phenomenal both with her and my family. Not sure this needs to happen.
the decision was a “purely political act” that “ignores” the Detroit native’s accomplishments.
No. The decision is an act that acknowledges the Detroit native’s destructive, purely political acts. More power to them.
This is the only maladminstration in history that only has buildings renamed to remove the taint of its very existence.
Name the school after Mike Ilitch, who among other things paid rent for Rosa Parks…
Project 21 forgot to bring the playbook to the game.
They should have included the following terms or claims:
– angry
– Soros-funded
– violation of Carson’s right to free speech
– mob
– lowest black unemployment rate in history
– thugs
– Democrat Ku Klux Klan
Even after his bizarrely incompetent attempt to get the nomination, Detroiters would have had no reason to take this step.
It was Ben Carson himself who made the decision to enmesh himself in the Trump administration, which automatically made him an advocate for Trump’s policies.
If Ben Carson was merely part of the administration and not he, himself setting evil policies maybe he wouldn’t deserve this. But he has violated his Hippocratic Oath and his career is now letting people suffer so rich people can get richer. Bill Cosby was America’s Dad, did a lot of great work, education, etc, but he just hurt a few people and he’s in prison. Carson’s policies affect hundreds of thousands and he does not give a shit that he’s utterly unqualified and hurting people with his ignorance. He may have done good once, but he is pure evil now.
The neurosurgeon gained renown for successfully performing surgery to separate Siamese twins who were joined at the head.
In other news, Ben Carson has yet to perform a surgery to remove his head from Trump’s ass. Being a messianic figure, that shouldn’t be that hard for him. Messianic figure you ask? Behold… (No photoshop, it’s hanging in his house.)
Hey Dr. Carson: ETTD.
I’d be grateful, too, and I’m glad your sister had someone with his abilities treating her.
I don’t think, however, that his many accomplishments are a good reason to make students attend a school of science and medicine named after a man who has advanced wildly unscientific arguments against evolution, climate science, and the origin of the universe.
Ew, that’s got to sting a little.
Sad thing is that Carson could have continued to do a lot of good if he has just stuck with his strengths. He was a gifted and talented surgeon, he opted to stop using these skills to become… a underperforming government bureaucrat with a shitty salary (by a surgeon’s standards).
Name the school after the Ford family who over decades have done a spectacular job of building one of the greatest pro football dynasties of all time, the Detroit Lions.
Um, I don’t think this vote to rename the school “ignores” his accomplishments, as the black conservative group suggests. I think it accurately reflects what he’s done.
Yep. If he’d never gotten involved with the regime, very few would have realized he’s nothing more than a total loon and craven sell out to the highest bidder at the expense of Detroit. Now, he’s saddled with everyone knowing. He made the choice; now he pays the price.
Yeah I’m guessing something happened in his brain that made it necessary for him to retire from medicine early and now we’re seeing further slipping of his mind. But we should still be able to try and appreciate the good he was able to do.
Detrumpification has already started.
From my experiences only, my three neurosurgeons have been fantastic. My two neuro-oncologists have been simply awesome. One of my radiation oncologists was phenomenal. They listened, were compassionate, and made me feel like I was their most important patient. They have saved my life–twice. Great surgeons and oncologists are not rare–or maybe I’ve just been very lucky with mine. I don’t think so though. My wife’s hematologist-oncologist is one of the most compassionate doctors we’ve ever met.
I’ve had some bad doctors (as far as personality), and a bad surgeon, one rather frosty oncologist, but on the whole, most have been fantastic.
The Lions have provided Americans with many years of laughter, every Thanksgiving.
Why continue to honor an idiot like Ben Carson?
