Discussion: Despite Endorsing Cruz In 2012, Houston Chronicle Goes With O'Rourke

Wow, that was pretty bad review of the work (or lack there of) that Cruz has been doing as Senator.

I’ve heard even the Pecos Psychrolutes marcidus Admiration Society is endorsing Beto.

The previous endorsement of Cruz was along the lines of “we know Cruz is a partisan flame-throwing asshole, but we expect he’ll be more a centrist like Kay Bailey Hutchison once he gets into the Senate”… which didn’t age well as we all know.

Of course, “the failing Houston Chronicle” is just a “liberal rag” (even though it’s not).

Bit off topic…

I am just back from voting in the 6th GA district, the well off suburbs north of Atlanta, and for the first time in the 10 years I have been living here, there were lines for early voting, and most worryingly for the racist and nativist republicans, there was a tons of melanin and people taking in languages other than English, several ladies with their hair covered too.

IN the case of Georgia, it probably won’t make much difference because they have no shortage of wingnuts in the exurbs and rednecks in the rural areas to counter the votes of the decent and educated people, besides SOB Kemp gets to count the votes, and he already stole the 6th special election last year. But if this crowd of voters repeats across the country, Trump and his cabinets of thieves are in deep kimchi.

Exhibiting little interest in addressing the needs of his fellow Texans during his six years in office, he has kept his eyes on a higher prize. He’s been running for president since he took the oath of office

The Cuban-Canadian immigrant, coupled with the Atlantic interview of his wife who really does not share ‘Texas values’ and really, really does not want to be in Texas… why don’t we all make Cruz’s family, and Texans happier and vote him out?

They should run an add saying “Help Heidi Cruz buy a 2nd Home. Kick kept man Ted Cruz out of the Senate so that he gets a real job!”

Heidi was bitching just the other day about how low Ted’s senate salary is and how they can’t afford a 2d house (which is bullshit - I’m sure she pulls down plenty from Goldman) but seeing as how his wife doesn’t appear to be all that thrilled with his being a senator I think we should definitely help them out here.

@mondfledermaus -oops I didn’t see your 2d home comment before I posted. Sorry.

From which we may conclude that Cruz lacks command of the relevant issues, eloquence and outreach. But we knew that. To those we could add lack of any sort of moral compass, integrity or courage.

I guess that wa pretty much a full burn on Cruz’s record and person.

I guess the Whataburger issue didn’t help.

To counter, ever adept with his ear on the pulse of the people, Cruz will leap to declaring cattle in Texas should be banned. Because they have more personality than he does.

That’s great. I’d really love to know what made them endorse Cruz 6 years ago.

The only person I can think of that Cruz would be preferable to would be Donald Trump, and he wasn’t running.

Ted Cruz’s father was an accomplice in the Kennedy assassination. Ted Cruz himself was involved in the 1836 Battle of the Alamo. Both of those were told to me and I totally believe them!!

Russian trolls all endorse Cruz, however.

From the editorial:

Voters don’t send representatives to Washington to win popularity contests, and yet the bipartisan disdain the Republican incumbent elicits from his colleagues, remarkable in its intensity, deserves noting. His repellent personality hamstrings his ability to do the job.

“Lucifer in the flesh,” is how Republican former House Speaker John Boehner described Cruz, adding: “I get along with almost everyone, but I have never worked with a more miserable son of a bitch in my life.”

Lindsey Graham, Republican senator from South Carolina, famously said: “If you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, and the trial was in the Senate, nobody would convict you.”

That is some Texas-size savagery right there.

For good measure, another one from former Sen. Al Franken:

Here’s the thing you have to understand about Ted Cruz. I like Ted Cruz more than most of my other colleagues like Ted Cruz. And I hate Ted Cruz.

I can’t resist another one from Franken:

He’s kind of a toxic guy in an office, the guy who microwaves fish…

Well, the Abrams campaign sent me this this morning:

Nate Silver has Stacey Abrams down by just 0.6%! This is the closest governor’s race in the COUNTRY - the fight is on!

Kemp 49.7 Abrams 49.1

Go, Beto!

I love that line. That is worse than the guy who burns his popcorn in the break room.

I drove from Rockport to Denton last week. Almost half of that rural highways. I saw LOTS of BETO signs along the way.

I know the odds are against him, but damn it felt good seeing all those BETO signs in the rural counties.

The CRUZ signs showed up in the Country Club estates.

She makes about $320K (to his $174K) per year.

That doesn’t count bonuses: hers in cash and his in how much he gets to annoy the rest of us.

What made them endorse him? Sheer out-and-out stupidity, as big as Texas:

Cruz’s Democratic opponent, Paul Sadler is a longtime state representative from East Texas who has been out of public life since 2003. He’s the type of moderate Texas Democrat with pro-growth, business-friendly views whose forebears ran this state for generations, but whose party has not won a statewide election since 1994.

There’s a lot we admire about Sadler, particularly his demonstrated ability to reach across the aisle and work productively with his political opponents for the good of Texas.

And after all that, they said they couldn’t support Sadler because … his “candidacy is well-meaning, but an exercise in futility.”

So they went for Ted Cruz.

Like I said: stupid.
