Discussion for article #238949
Amen. “Chris Christie should never be allowed near a transportation budget ever again.” Or any other federal or multi-state agency budget item. Stick to screwing New Jerseyans for as long as they’ll stay bent over…
It seems he’s adopted Rove’s old tactic of attempting to turn his weaknesses into strengths and he fails spectacularly.
God, I hope he does time.
He looks old and tired for his age. He’s probably an immensely unhappy person and no fun to be around.
Despite his continual rebranding, Chris Christie will never reach the pinnacle of his aspirations. He won’t be able to overcome Bridgegate! He’s shown his hand and it’s been found wanting.
The Outlaw Jersey Whale looks like 40 miles of bad road.
One can only assume that all the lying and double-dealing show in his face.
Sort of like a super-sized Portrait of Dorian Gray.
well written and documented article, However the Commuters in North Jersey suppy all that much discussed banded around money! Now a new 9% raise in cost to them. Its an outrageous flim flam and again the "hard working"American pays and pays. congress plays games with the money and gets away with it. Red States get tax dollars and Blue States workers pay.
If I may…a suggestion to TPM. Don’t write bits about Christie suggesting he has now or ever had a shot at the nomination. That’s BS. What he doing now is angling for a top 10 spot. We know that. But he’s way out of his world and even further out of his place. He’s doing poorly as in HE IS…and we all expected that.
For some reason, this guy losing is going to be more enjoyable to witness than even watching Trump lose. Something about this joker makes me despise him.
“Christie’s support among Republicans collapsed in early 2014 after his inner circle’s involvement in Bridgegate came to light, and it never rebounded.”
No.
Christie’s support among Republicans collapsed in 2012 when he hugged Obama.
He never will be. After his term is up he’s done. Damaged goods.
just 55% of New Jersey residents have a positive opinion about the state as a place to live
New Jersey has got to be the worst case of self-loathing I’ve ever seen. And yet - they gave us
BRUUUUUCE!
For anyone who lives in New Jersey and commutes they have reason to hate this man. He’s asleep at the wheel, not taking care of running the state and those who live there pay for it. Days after days of delays, so much inconvenience because he squandered Federal money and paid other bills with it. Much of the East Coast has crumbling infrastructure and NJ may be at the top of the list.
Great article, Brian. I’ve long suspected the ARC tunnel shenanigans would be Christie’s downfall. It still amazes me that he got NJ Transit to sign off on the bogus cost assessment, but not at all surprised at the PA’s role - after all the old PRR tunnel is the only Hudson River crossing the PA doesn’t control - and better rail service might reduce car traffic through the PA’s tunnels and the GWB…
Well here’s to that cheapshit bully getting his just desserts. Now if only his partner in crime (and the criminal Port Authority) across the Hudson, Andrew Cuomo, would do the same. They’re like the dynamic duo of corruption, hubris, dickinshness and dysfunctional governance.
I love the smell of desperation in the morning.
Abuse of power says it all. Callous disregard for his constituents. Simply unfit to be President.
President Donald Trump could decree on inauguration day the new tunnel be built and it would be finished the following Tuesday. Just ask him. It’s all about negotiating and management. Politicians don’t know about negotiating and management. The Great Mexico Wall might have to await completion the following week.
And here I thought the whole rationale for electing a guy like this was that he makes the trains run on time. Il Duce he is not, I guess.
I recall a post on another forum years ago by a New Jersey resident, describing a morning of non-moving trains on New Jersey Transit - sitting on one train for 20 minutes, being told to get off, and get on another train that ended up never moving, and so on. Her conclusion: “If Anna Karenina had used New Jersey Transit, she’d be alive today.”
