Discussion for article #235271
Iâm no graphic designer, but do fancy myself to have a fair sense for aesthetics.
As an art reviewer might soften it: âIt just doesnât speak to me.â
Whatâs the point? (pun not intended, but Iâll take it anyhow)
At least make all the arrows point up and to the left, and certainly none downwards. Geez.
Heh. Thatâs cool.
This was, perhaps, somewhat predictable. Sheâs the frontrunner (both in the Dem primary and overall) and sheâs a she, so the MSM was going to be on mission to find something puerile to latch onto instead of talking at all about any of her positions, substance, etc. Weâll be watching this happen all throughout the campaign over the next year+âŚnonsense designed to encourage people not to take her seriously, focus on childish things like her chosen campaign symbol and weapons of mass distraction vis-a-vis elephants in the strawberry patch like Benghazi and her email. Meanwhile, even CNN, in all its vapid glory, managed to respond to Rubioâs announcement with a piece about his positions, which of course entailed discussion about his competitors positions and the GOP primary field. You know, just in case you hadnât heard about them all and had their idiocy spoon fed to you yet on their behalf.
The MSM has appointed itself the great equalizer when it comes to national elections, and theyâll be fucking damned if theyâre going to sit idly by while someone runs away with one when they couldâve had a horse race narrative.
Iâm a book designer, and this is a fun idea, but no, this design doesnât function as good typography. Itâs a (fun but) lopsided mess.
The H with the arrow was a bad choice from the start. Itâs pointing to the right, which can be construed as something other than moving forward. It can also be turned upside-down to change the direction of the arrow.
The design should be unambiguous, and as tamper-proof as possible. Final grade is C. Class dismissed.
Clintonâs newly unveiled campaign logo had been heavily criticized on social media for the mixed messaging that resulted from having the red arrow overlaying the âHâ point to the right.
People, donât get too hung up on symbology and semiotics. Things may not mean what you think they mean.
Before I retired and I worked for the US Department of the interior [Park Service, USGS, BLM], occasionally some idiot conservative in congress or some state legislature would get upset that the buffalo in our agencyâs logo was heading to the left. Never occurred to them that the animal was facing West [in a manifestly destiny kind of way].

I look at the logo as someone acquainted with vectors and graphs where the positive direction is to the right. Negative, of course, is to the left. Like it or not thatâs just the way the Cartesian system works. Big deal, itâs just a logo.
Now, if the arrow was manifesting from the top of one of the legs of the âHâ and pointing upward, my how Freudian!
Yeah, I saw it like this:
Right = the direction in which we read English and numbers, so forward and progress
Left = retrograde, traditionally viewed as moving backwards when put on a page
Anyhoo, this shit is nothing but a big fat âdonât pay attention to what sheâs saying about anything that mattersâ game.
Same here.
I think its meant as a spoofâŚnot intended as flattery.
Personally, I would have liked to have seen Ms. Clinton do a logo with a curvilinear approach, perhaps not the same as the mandala-type approach as the Obama logo, but something similar in keeping with the continuity with his Democratic administration. It also has the added benefit of being easier on the eyes. Curvilinear or flowing lettering also has an unmistakable female aspect to it in many cultures, including here in the US. Maybe something a little more Art Nouveau-ish.
And maybe a byline like: The hand that rock the cradle, rules the world.
Just Kidding on that oneâŚ
Yup. Tomorrow, itâll be back to a microscopic examination of her clothing, gossiping about all the âinfightingâ among her campaign staff and speculation about whether or not she and Bill De Blasio will have a major dust-up that will âtear the party apartâ.
Okay, on the âhand that rocks the cradleâ line, I just had to dust this one off:
As a typeface junkie?
I must have⌠the preciousâŚ
But yeah, I have to agree itâs kind of âmehâ in the execution.

Perfect. SeeâŚthere ya go. Made me all teary again. Sheesh.
Or something even more banalâŚlike whatâs that food doing stuck between her two teeth.
LOL! Whatâs this about DeBlasio? How wonderfully absurd. I havenât heard that one yet haha
Schoolyard tauntsâŚIts all the nutjobs have so far.
Heavy sigh. These guys have way too much time on their hands.
Not sure it is the MSM that is really the ones complaining all that much about her logo. Any one with a sense of design and branding would find it boring as hell and says little or nothing.
But, now, lots of people are talking about it, thereby increasing its visibility and recognition. IIRC, Obamaâs logo, though arguably much better, was also subject to much scrutiny and criticism.
A Red arrow pointing forward? Obviously, a thinly veiled call to arms for Hillary to take over the next phase of Obamaâs plot to move forward with the Red-Commie plot to overthrow the government and enslave us all in socialist-utopiary!!!1!!!one!!!1!!!
