Can we stop with the fake tweets? I never know if they’re satire or not, and it’s a major distraction to have to go look them up. Some people probably think they’re real, which makes them actual fake news.

This is such an apt description for so much of the vileness hurled at President Obama. For many Americans, it’s okay for a black man to be a bus driver or waitress (and they use this fact to “prove” they’re not racist.) But when that black man is better educated than they are, more articulate, attractive and has also achieved a higher employment status, they can’t accept that.

I expect the governors’ races in both GA and FL to get incredibly racist. Both races will be as ugly and nasty as anything we’ve seen in recent memory. That’s why I think both Gillum and Abrams have to essentially run Obama’s 2008 race. They need to allow their white surrogates to point out the racism while they fight on as happy warriors.
Unfortunately, there is a not small yet well meaning contingent of white people on both the right and left that don’t think anyone is really racist-racist unless the person actually uses the N-word or is standing around in a white robe. Those people simply do not believe minorities when we point out something as racist and need to actually hear it from fellow white people before they’re willing to accept that reality. I also expect PP to descend on both contests with his his racist bullhorn screaming about NFL players and anything he can drag into both elections to say without saying, “You can’t elect these n(clang)s.” It’s going to get very nasty.
