The Republican party has gone so far off the rails that no member feels it appropriate and worthy to condemn King’s despicable remarks and call him out. Cowardly!
“Given King’s longstanding record as one of the least effective members of Congress, the GOP should have no difficulty finding a more thoughtful and qualified individual to represent the people of Iowa’s 4th District.”
I can believe that…
Yet his district continues to embarrass the rest of the state by electing this draft dodging weak minded college drop out time after time. As I recall he was challenged in the last primary and won easily.
So my questions:
1 Did the Des Moines Register actively support his re-election by endorsing him in the last election?
2 Other than this editorial, have they been actively supporting King in his time serving his constituency?
3 is this a recall-able offense and does Iowa have recall in this instance and, if the answer to both is yes, when will they lead the charge on getting this fool out of office?
“If King’s world view truly doesn’t match that of the Republican Party, then party leaders at both the state and national level need to stand together in supporting an opposing candidate in the 2018 Republican primary,” the board wrote.
They won’t, but that’s quite a good point to make, Bravo DMR. It lays bare the hypocrisy of guys like Ryan and the Iowa GOP, who bleat out “Shocked, So Shocked, we are!” but who never take this step to truly distance themselves from his constantly-embarassing rhetoric. It’s hopeless to think any Dem can challenge him–enough of the voters in that half of the state actually LIKE his bullshit.
So why do Iowan’s keep re-electing the Cantaloupe King?
Could they share his perverted values?
“If Steve King was your average, garden-variety bigot and was standing on a street corner while spouting his nonsense to passersby, he’d be easy to ignore,” the Des Moines Register’s editorial board wrote.
Whoa there! You're tarring about 150 million people in the U.S. with a broad brush!
“the GOP should have no difficulty finding a more thoughtful and qualified individual to represent the people of Iowa’s 4th District.”
Translation: Same noxious views couched in extra layers of code.
I’m not sure the DesMoines Register caries any weight in NW Iowa. You would need to look to the Sioux City papers and local newspapers and radio (including Des Moines WHO). The Sioux City headline this AM was " Republicans Fault Steve King." Do not know how the article went.
Please, let’s clarify it is NW Iowa, not all Iowans
Iowa is 90% white. That’s who he’s talking too, and he has no reason to tone it down.
Fair enough, but the following does not paint a pretty picture for Iowa, unless you like deep red.

I’m sure the people of his district hold the out-of-touch elites in Des Moines in high esteem.
Let’s not forget, this is a state that went from electing Tom Harkin for 30 years, a long-standing liberal Senator that got a lot of shit done in Congress to Joni Ernst, because she said she knew how to castrate pigs and “cut pork”. The Des Moines Register endorsed her for the Republican primary but didn’t for the general election, thank goodness.
She’s a fucking fruitcake. I hate to say it, but Iowa is slowly becoming Kansas.
However it appears to be a cesspit of Librul in the southeast portion.
Intelligence obviously flows downhill to the southeast…
Racist is the word you’re looking for Des Moines Register, racist. This Isn’t that hard.
