So if you’re in Iowa, you should get your fat cantaloupe calves to the polling place and depose King,

Curious to know who the Des Moines Register has endorsed in the past. In other words, how unusual of a step is this for them?

I certainly hope this is an omen of how Midwesterners feel about Republicans and a harbinger for Democratic gains across the region.

I can’t speak for Iowans, but the paper appears to be fairly middle of the road.

From Google It looks like they’ve had issues with some of King’s many stupid comments - and the GOP incumbents in the state have been ignoring the paper’s request for an interview; so it sounds like their rejection of GOP candidates may have been building for some time.

Chiselin’ Trump: “That’s alright. They can say whatever they want about me. I don’t like Iowa, anyway, because I owe a bundle to the Russians.”

This is exactly the narrative Democrats should be pushing–not necessarily the candidates, who will be tailoring their campaigns to local sensitivities, but the national organizations. “The GOP has changed. The GOP is unfit for power. And oh yeah–the GOP always bankrupts the country.”
Define and brand them. Stop playing defense all the time. Be authentic and straightforward. If newspapers in Iowa are prepared to say it, so should the Democrats. And don’t just say it once–say it all the time. Preface any comment on any topic with the message.

Funny thing about that - they aren’t anymore. We grow our own now.

What’s with body-shaming states that show signs of turning blue? Is it some sort of reverse-psychology designed to make them ashamed they hadn’t turned blue sooner? Not convinced this is a winning strategy.

“…needs to be voted out of power and spend a few years becoming again the party of Lincoln…"

The “party of Lincoln” is now the “party of George Lincoln Rockwell.”

The editorial staff is exemplar. https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/2018/04/16/pulitzer-prize-des-moines-register-andie-dominick-editorial-writing/521710002/.

Andie Dominick exposed IA Governor Reynolds Medicaid scheme and highlights King. Reynolds is now in a tight race for reelection. Not sure how King is doing but he clearly needs to be voted out.

Have you seen What’s Eating Gilbert Grape? If not, I highly recommend it. It offers Leonardo DiCaprio’s best acting performance, by far. It was all downhill for him, since.
