Discussion: Dershowitz: Giuliani Likely Hired To Encourage Cohen To 'Stay Strong'

Dershowitz, Giuliani, Trump – these are the kind of people who give gerontocracies a bad name.

Hey Cohen - we have some really good, really old, really past their prime and out of their specialty lawyers – so stay strong.

Cohen’s choice right now is between flipping and getting run over.

Is staying strong really the way to go?

Cohen’s only advantage is that he knows most of the thugs who would do him harm, so he’ll recognize them when they come for him. Small comfort, but it’s the best he’s got.

Again with the lack of “Trump doesn’t have anything to worry about from Cohen, as neither did anything wrong”…

And once again, the implicit premise of Dersh’s Derp is that “we know you committed crimes” but Rudy “the fixer” is on the job so don’t flip on us.

Cohen doesn’t strike me as the kind of guy who needs a cheerleader. Or has plucky, nonsense-aphorisms taped to his shaving mirror.

Ah, that’s old news

I’m so old, I remember the code was called “omerta,” not “advertise everything to the world.”

Figlio di puttana.

Can someone explain Dershowitz to me?

My recollection was that he was some revered legal intellectual giant.

Was I mistaken? Has he recently been oxygen deprived for over 20 minutes?

These comments just seem like what you would expect from a partisan hack.

Why they’re not even sexagenarians anymore. And sex never worked out well for these guys anyway.

His options are more like staying strong versus a polonium milkshake.

Can someone explain to me what happened to Dershowitz? I mean, I never really liked the guy but he did seem smarter than this.

As a supporter of peace for Israel and the Palestinians, I always thought Dershowitz’ strident views on the Middle East weren’t — as we are wont say — good for the Jews. But I figured he’d be like my aunt or a lot of other fiercely pro-Israel Jews of that generation: defensive about the Arab-Israeli conflict but fairly liberal or at least level headed on other things.

Then – seemingly since Trump – the guy is utterly embarrassing himself. WTF happened to him? Is this early stages of dementia? Was he paid off in some way? Did his IQ drop 140 points since he retired from Harvard? Is a chemical imbalance at play?

So, prosecutors wave a deal under Cohen’s nose; limited immunity/minimal sentencing, for providing critical testimony. WTF good does Rudy’s presence on Trump’s team do for him? Rudy isn’t Cohen’s lawyer. As Trump’s lawyer any damned counsel he gave Cohen (would that even be ethical?) certainly couldn’t be counted upon as chiefly having Cohen’s best interest in mind. Rudy’s presence on Trump’s team is worthless to Cohen as far as I can tell.

Echos of Dennis Miller.

All of Trump’s surviving lawyers have out sized characters, whether it’s Ty Cobb with the Poirot-like mustache or Good-Fella Joe diGenova or the ghetto-tough Cohen or the Talmudic Dershowitz.

“The message is, ‘Hey, stay strong, we have a really good lawyer in our team, on our team, to focus on the Southern District of New York where your problems are.’ So I think it was a very, very smart move.”

sigh
