Discussion: Deputy AG Rosenstein: No Good Cause Exists To Fire Robert Mueller Now

Shoring that up in case Trump has a tantrum and tries to fire Mueller. The SS Trump is listing and taking on water. He may try something outrageous.

I’d call it more a smear campaign myself. That’s in his skill set, I’m pretty sure.

ETA and I know eyebrows go up at any suggestion Trump has a rational, restrained side, but I’ve always thought Trump had a self-preserving streak. For all the shady stuff he’s pulled, he’s stayed out of jail or criminal court. His problems now come from taking his crazy ass out of a situation he knew and understood and into one he didn’t and didn’t. All the unprecedented crimes he’s committed only seemed like his usual corner-cutting to him. If it helped him, it couldn’t be all that bad. Another fine theory likely to be exploded by new information but that’s my theory for today.

And heading full steam for the Mueller Iceberg!

Maybe I’m not a great legalese-translator, but this doesn’t seem as categorical a statement as the headline implies. And what would make “good cause”, anyway? Enough Fox news segments to rile up the shithead in chief?

“But give us a little more time. We’ll try to think of something! Let me ask Omarosa. Oh, wait…”

Oh Lord…Stevie King has a sheaf of papers with little colored tabs at the top.

He came prepared!

And he loves the phrase…“the fruit of the poisonous tree”

And we’re absolutely certain he doesn’t have the authority to fire Trump…?

You that old saying “Don’t be a Bork”?
Rosenstein does not want to be a Bork.

After listening to just 20 minutes of the ongoing congressional session and hearing all of the Republicans outrageously trash Mueller and the FBI, it seems very possible that Trump would go so far as to fire Mueller. The impression I am getting is that the GOP feels like they have nothing left to lose.

Shouldn’t that be: “Kantalope Kalves King” ?

Lost a Senate seat and gained a Special Counsel. If he hadn’t appointed Sessions then the AG would’ve never had to recuse himself and Rosenstein would’ve never been in the position to appoint a Special Counsel after PP fired Comey. Appointing Sessions is probably going to shake out to be the biggest mistake of this administration.

What would make a good cause?
Well, according to Hannity and the rest of the traitors at FoxNews, Mueller leaving the toilet seat up is a fireable excuse.

Too lazy to look for supporting evidence right now (what with all the schadenfreude reading to catch up on) but pretty sure this isn’t the first time Rosenstein has sent up a ‘rule of law’ flare. I wouldn’t rely on the guy to single-handedly save the Union, but he seems like the kind to resign before being asked to do something like fire Mueller. That’s not to say Fux News won’t go after him, but it may actually help to push back on some of the work they’ve been doing (along with WSJ) to sow the seeds to fire Mueller. If enough of the establishment pushes back on this radical bullshit, they may reconsider their treason.

Appointing Sessions alright but firing Comey is what lit the fire that is going to consume him. That wouldn’t have happened if he hadn’t appointed Sessions but he should never have fired Comey. That sent everyone into a panic.

Kinda a Russian Fire drill.

Yep. It really is and Trump is responsible for it.

Since Rosenstein is the only person who can fire Mueller, I don’t think Trump is getting rid of the special investigator.
[/quote]This has always been my view. Talk of Trump firing Mueller is media catnip and likely good for ratings on every bobble-headed panel discussion on every news network.

However, the practicalities of firing Mueller – another Saturday night massacre – make it practically impossible. The collateral damage would be huge.

And after absorbing that damage, remember, the firing doesn’t end the investigation but simply replaces the person leading the investigation.

Then there is the fact – reported but often overlooked – that Mueller’s team is cooperating with the NY AG on this investigation. Nothing Trump or anyone else at the Federal level can do about that.

JEEZ. Gohmert is circling back on Comey not being allowed to share his contemporaneous notes with someone outside the bureau.
