Discussion: Deputy AG Nom Won't Commit To Naming Special Prosecutor For Russia Probe

The unbiased truth is not his objective. He’s just being a good little Republican and leaving the option of cover-up open and “plausibly” deniable.

I do not like to ‘judge’ people on looks, etc. but the Trump Administration seems intent on finding people that ‘look the part’ of RWNJs to fill their posts. Stephen Miller, Carter Page, Jeff Sessions, etc. etc. THIS one just LOOKS scary. GOEBBELESQUE…

Holy… Is it just me, or does that dude looks like an emotionless serial murderer in that picture?

Not just you - that’s exactly what he looks like - a soulless serial killer, a/k/a Nazi.

This guy is actually quite respected and is known for being thoughtful and fair. I would not commit either if I were him. He is not saying he will but he is not saying he won’t and he is making clear that he needs the facts first. Imagine that!

So we obviously don’t expect him to last long enough in the current administration to decide about a special prosecutor. Or possibly even what to have for dinner.

Perhaps. Would you like some fava beans and a nice Chianti, sir?

I am glad to hear that he is respected. I heard an argument on MSNBC Friday night that said we don’t want a special prosecutor, because the a prosecutor has to look for criminal acts. The issues that we are looking at - treason and foreign collusion - are not technically criminal, so he/she would have to ignore them. We want a special investigation.

Wow! He looks bigly constipated!

Right, there’s a good primer on the different investigative options:

It’s 1861, but in new clothes. Half the country thinks the President is a traitorous bastard who’s openly colluding with a foreign power that helped install him, while the other half either denies anything untoward is happening, or is fine with that collusion. It’s hard to see how this ends well.

McCain, Graham, Collins, Flake, Sasse, Murkowski, Rubio

At most, there’s only one of the above who would buck McConnell and Trump. I think there’s a slim possibility that Sasse could, but I sure as hell wouldn’t bet on it. Rosenstein worked for Kenneth Starr during the Whitewater phase of Starr’s witchhunt (he left Starr’s group before the Lewinsky affair blew up), so he’s firmly established his partisan bona fides. Nobody would be more shocked than me if he appointed a special prosecutor who was truly interested in getting to the truth.

The only thing that will get a real investigation going is somebody in the IC community spilling the beans to somebody in the media or in Congress. Otherwise this thing will simmer for four years but never boil over.

If any of the above vote to confirm this man, they are screaming into a megaphone that they don’t give a fuck about what Trump and his underlings did and their words mean absolutely nothing.

If they do appoint a special prosecutor, I’m betting they’ll appoint Bannon.

He’s been nominated for the (effectively) top spot in the DoJ. He has clearances. I find it hard to believe that he hasn’t been briefed enough to form any opinion whatsoever.

No I think you’re right. He actually looks like a character in a movie, playing the part of an emotionless serial killler!!

Why do all of Trump’s men look like Nazi SS officers…this guy is like text book as is his boss the lying under oath scum bag Jeffy KKK Sessions.

Stephen Miller looks Goebbelsesque. This one looks like the spitting image of Heinrich Himmler:

I stand corrected. I need to ‘bone up’ on my Nazis.
