Discussion: Dems Warn Trump: Don't 'Obstruct' Our 'Oversight And Investigative Efforts'

Our nation’s laws prohibit efforts to discourage, intimidate, or otherwise pressure a witness not to provide testimony to Congress.

Russian law doesn’t…

Dems Warn Trump: Don’t ā€˜Obstruct’ Our 'Oversight And Investigative Efforts’

It’s like admonishing a dung beetle not to eat shit.

They forgot to add:

Or else we’ll impeach the motherfucker

This is pretty much a Miranda warning.

I hope Pelosi remembered to include a bunch of money to renovate and expand the cells at the Congress’ disposal.

Seems like their Sergeant-at-Arms may have to host at least dozens, if not hundreds, of Trump staff and appointees for the next couple of years…

Question. Unlike DOJ’s inability to enforce obstruction against the President, what enforcement options do these committees have? Contempt, censure? I’m not up to speed on these Congressional maneuvers. In any case, I hope Ind. 1 gets slapped with something every time he opens his mouth about their investigations.

Trump will refuse to cooperate with the House investigation of his treasonous collusion with Russia.

I believe Trump will try his best to suppress the Mueller report.
I also suspect that the Mueller report, or the most important findings and evidence therein, shall be provided to the appropriate committees in both the House and the Senate, one way or another.
If Schiff wants, he can subpoena Mueller, and Mueller can testify.
If Trump attempts to suppress that testimony through the use of Executive Privilege, I believe it will work its way through the courts, and if it is still suppressed, it shall be leaked.

The name ā€œTrumpā€ will go down in US history much, much darker than the name "Benedict Arnold."

We see your 17 lawyers and your sleazy attack on a witness’ father, and we’re telling you, don’t fuck with us.

I like to see a bit of good old fashioned orneriness and righteous indignation in my Democratic chairmen, especially with the wherewithal to back it up.

See my comment about the Sergeant-at-Arms. They could hold people in contempt, and have the Sergeant-at-Arms arrest them and hold them until willing to testify. Unlikely, but not impossible.

Cool. I’d also like see Ind. 1 slapped with censure every time he disparages one of these committee members with an insulting tag. As in Lit’l Adam. The next few months are going to be sweet!

A multitude of dozens.

I would like to see this option exercised. I hope the Sargeant-at-Arms is well trained and equipped. This option is quite unused to being exercised.

Yeah I’d love to see the Democrats quit trying to do things in Congress the polite way, the way where they respect everyone and assume everyone is acting in good faith. This bunch we just elected knows better. We need to get tough as tough as we are able to with control of only the House.
