Well, my tax $ being used to prevent people from voting does rub me the wrong way.
Thanks, Chuck!
“This is how the appalling failure to use the right words and stand up to hate in the aftermath of Charlottesville…," Schumer said.
I kind of think it’s more than just an appalling failure to use the right words. I think it’s an appalling failure to not have the right beliefs, values, morals, and understanding and appreciation of the Constitution and laws, and an appalling failure to not be a racist. But, that’s just my opinion. However, I’d like to see the commission shut down because of all these same reasons.
Well, this just made my day a little better. I don’t see it happening, but credit if they really push this.
If Trump doesn’t like it, tell him that they need the money for the Secret Service.
Same here. That commission having ANYONE’s voter data makes my skin crawl.
And if @POTUS won’t disband the Election Integrity Commission, @SenateDems will try to do it on a must-pass bill in September.
I realize the length constraints of a Tweet, but really the phrase “Election Integrity Commission” should never be uttered or written without being preceded by “so-called” or “bogus” or a similar descriptor.
I like this approach. Use the momentum of removing Confederate monuments (which most people agree with) to fight for the restoration of voting rights for minorities. Part and parcel of the same issue -racism.
Well, by G-d and Greyhound, I do believe the Dems are finally taking a vocal position. Start here, fellas. Start here!!!
Good, it should be something they attack.
You can’t say it enough, because it may be the most deeply and shockingly wrong thing the GOP has done, but they’ve had a concerted effort going for many years to deny people the right to vote because the GOP knows its policies rob the middle class and poor in favor of the rich. It’s a direct assault on a fundamental right without which you can’t have self-government. And if it isn’t stopped God only knows where we end up.
YES. I’d love to see more of this - tie Trump’s rhetoric to the GOP’s policy and the party itself. You need to tie this President like an anchor around the GOP’s neck.
He described the President’s commission, along with some of the of actions of the Justice Department since Attorney General Jeff Sessions took it over, as “wolves in sheep’s clothing. They are a ruse. Their only intention is to disenfranchise voters.”
So there was this election in 2016…
Can citizens sue Kobach and his commission in civil court for disenfranchisement?
This commission needs some klieg lights focused on its leadership, can they ask Kobach in to answer some questions?
When they take up the debate it will be wonderful opportunity to get some open testimony about their mischief… get all the SOS’s Kobach conspired with before the election lined up to discern if there’s a bona fide vote suppression crime already hiding in their lies (duh!!), no doubt they RICO’d the issue exhaustively, assuming they would never be held accountable in their 1000 year Republican Reich.
Wolves in wolf clothing should never be mistaken by sheep…
Kobach’s inflicting the most damage in KS and now he has cover from the Divider In Chief.
Kansas’ 13,717 rejected ballots even topped the 13,461 from Florida, which has about seven times as many residents.
Trump at 34 again on Gallup.
Can tomorrow be 33?
Gallup uses a 3 day average, right?
Good on Senator Schumer; we need more “fighting words” and not empty promises. Resist!
Now he has a national stage to wreak havoc on, start adding up the totals to come.
Kobach’s like “The Nothing” in Never Ending Story, everywhere he goes, black holes subsume voter roles, leaving only darkness behind.
Wish that was hyperbole, but it actually falls short of the urgency required, words on paper just don’t convey what they do when spoken aloud.
SERIOUSLY, can they force Kobach to turn over documents and testify before their committee(s) under oath? We couldn’t get the truth out of him here in Kansas, maybe Congress is holier than The People?
If real authority was ever leveled at Kobach and demanded the truth he is hiding, this would all be over very quickly.
