Discussion: Dems: Thanks Ted Cruz And Mike Lee For The Extra Help Confirming Nominees

Hahahaha There’s a better chance of me winning the lottery ten consecutive times and win a date with ten supermodels than a Republican clown winning the presidency in 2016.

Good luck with finding nominees from any Republican that would get the votes necessary to win a national election that will have 100% success rate with the likes of Cruz and company to find fault with them.

Even so, fine – the Constitution provides limited things with supermajority requirements. Executive nominations are not one of them. It didn’t help the Dems that much last time around, even if a few potential judges were held up.

Senator John Cornyn was trying to explain what Cruz was accomplishing to CNN (besides confirming more of Obama’s nominees) when a smiling Cory Booker tapped Cornyn on the shoulder and said “Let me know if you need backup for this.”

If they had, then it would have gone back to the House…who knows what would have become of the budget bill then?

Now Elizabeth can reintroduce the proper legislation and make a big stink when the GOP refuses to pass it…

Did you mean Mentat?

He’s a smart asshole. He furthered his own cause, even if helping Obama would seem to hurt Republicans in some fashion.

Senator Petard, meet Mr. Hoisted.

Too bad we lost the election through not voting is what you should say.

I think they have a chance, especially if fucking Jeb gets nominated. We have to work hard and avoid being cocky. The thought of them nominating another reactionary automaton like Scalia or Alito or Thomas is too horrible to even think about.

You got that right, Redeye. He is also very stupid. lol

I recall the same opinion in 2008. Should we bring up all the claims that the GOP was finished and the Democrats would control Congress for 50 years? You keep believing Hillary is a slam dunk but don’t be surprised when she loses big time in 2016.

Jeb will not be the nominee. He is the Trojan horse, so the establishment can make the RW settle on an alternative like John Kasich. Kasich is the GOP candidate Democrats should be concerned about.

Agreed, and I wonder if the Cruz tantrum also served to provide a measure of false equivalence in waiting:

“What do you mean the derivatives bailout doesn’t belong in this bill? And for that matter why should Obama’s amnesty be included in this bill, hmmm? Tit for tat, buddy, and who cares about derivatives, and at least they’re a part of the economy, unlike amnesty, which is going to send millions more Obama voters flooding into this once great nation to steal our jobs and suck up our entitlements until we’re broke. And I heard Obama and his Wall Street crony lobbied Congress to get this passed. At least Cruz is standing up for American citizens, like the Constitution says.”

And the discussion will conclude, “Obviously there are two sides to this story, and we’re going to have to leave it at that. That’s all the time we have today.”

But who was making that claim? I don’t remember that.

You might be right about him. I also see Mike Pence as a possibility.

Then instead of you, I will say the majority of the Democratic Party to include the media and most on this forum.

I see quite a few on the GOP side. What is hilarious is all the talk of lack of options for Republicans, when the truth it is democrats who lack options.

On the GOP side, there are the ones making news right now, Jeb Bush, Romney, Paul, Christie, etc… but there is a deep bench of serious candidates if they decided to run. Candidates like Paul Ryan, Scott Walker, John Kasich, Mike Pence, etc…

On the democratic side it will be Hillary and after that who?

Dunno. We shall see.

If we get a republican president, this “experiment in democracy” is over…the fascists will have won…

“…The extra time … gave Reid the opportunity to … file cloture on the nominations and move them…”

Clearly, Cruz must be a stealth liberal.

Conservatives shouldn’t trust him.
