Discussion: Dems: Packed Confirmation Schedule Meant To Rush Trump Picks Through

bonus feature of the schedule…

dedicated Republicans can point and bray about how hard they’re working to advance the people’s new agenda for the 1%…

BTW… anyone remember when 1%ers used to refer to outlaw motorcyclists?

Deprived of their ability to filibuster and control over scheduling, delaying votes is the only power move Democrats have left.

OK, someone help me out here: whatever happened to the Senatorial “hold”, the ability of a single Senator to delay a confirmation vote? There’s a reason that on Jan 20, several hundred Obama nominees will still be waiting for their confirmation vote.

A side note, McConnell said yesterday that the Senate started confirming nominees the first week of Obama’s inauguration, and that the Dems should “grow up.” In fact, those votes were held because the nominees had completed their paperwork and the Office of Gov’t Ethics had signed off on the vetting process. On JoeScar this morning, John Heilman noted that in 2009, McConnell wrote to the OGE and insisted that no nominee be vetted until all of their paperwork was complete. McConnell has apparently misplaced that principle with a Repub president.

the only ‘principle’ Republicans hold dear is the principle of hypocrisy…

The schedule for confirmation hearings seems to be an implicit admission that the cabinet picks can’t withstand scrutiny.
