Good on him. More team players, please. The country needs a democratic senate.

Setting aside personal ambition for the country. Wow. Good man.

Thanks for putting the country/party ahead of personal ambition. I hope it’s rewarded down the line

Excellent. This way Kelly can focus on possibly getting that seat.

On the one hand it’s good not to have a contested primary, especially if there is a strong candidate in place. On the other, Gallego looks like a good candidate and fit for the state, especially if he could bring out the latino vote statewide and help swing it towards the Democrats in the presidential election. He’s young though, so he probably figures he’s got a future, and I bet some senior Democrats asked him to wait (which may mean they have polling that makes Kelly look good).

That’s just a damn shame. Kelly has no business stepping into this race like that. Gallego is far more representative of the demo we need in Arizona. Now, it’s entitled white guy who used to vote Republican bigfoots crucial race.

Gallego and Giffords never served together. Gifford’s was shot in 2011 and Gallego was elected to the House in 2010

You’re a class act, sir. I hope we see more of you

Key is, as you mentioned, he is young enough to wait for another opportunity.

+10000. Very good news. We need a lot more of this type of thinking…

Also, his opportunity might come fairly soon:

Senator Ms. Sinema strikes me as a ‘climber’; if the D’s were to capture the WH in '20 i could defintely see her accepting/pushing for a position as a well-experienced department honcho in that Dem Administration.

And having Mr. Gallego waiting in the wings only adds to the dynamic.

Too bad the snake bit his wife and not him.

Life’s soo unfair.

I hope not, the Repub Gov would definitely put a Repub in her seat.

Yeah, I don’t know Gallego too well, but I’m less than certain that Kelly is going to be a reliably progressive voice.

Excellent point; i completely whiffed on that scenario.

Thanks!
