Longer than you’d think. It’s the government, it’ll go through lots of legal reviews and stuff to make sure it’s bulletproof before sending it off.
These people aren’t amateurs, they’re not making demands by tweet.

For all we know they have a significant ownership stake in the club. We’ll probably never find out, since no one in the House will probably ever ask. Ah, those pesky red lines.
I just want to note that this scandal would grind the gov’t to a complete halt and be the end for any normal pResidential administration. In tRump’s case, however, scandal has been so normalized that this just gets in line with the gazillion other scandals that are currently swirling the drain.
Why stop with one when you can compromise dozens?
The Democrats have legal staff. We’ve read they famously were preparing for the day they took power, for weeks if not months before the election. Election Day was 132 days ago. Over four months. Wars have been ended with shorter negotiations than 132 days.
They didn’t take control until January. In the middle of a shutdown. And it took time to get the committees staffed (remember, the Republicans also have to staff and they drag their feet), which also was impacted by the shutdown.
This stuff doesn’t happen overnight. Chill.
Helpful timeline of Watergate for comparison…
Christ almighty! It’s like some rich GOP politician or donor can’t even get a good Handy-J anymore! I thought this was America!
So, applying a similar timeline to a pursuit of Trump, with the intention of exposing him and driving him from office, would result in his resignation around, oh, about January 2021. Sounds good.
That could be the reality. Look, all of us would prefer things to have happened yesterday if not before.
But just because they can’t meet our expectations doesn’t mean that Nadler, Cummings and the rest are just sitting around on their thumbs.
And there’s no point brow-beating them for not working fast enough, when they’re working on the schedule which they have, not the one which we might like them to have.
We can also vote his a** out of office in about 19 months.
(Does the math…)
That’s about right.
Based on my experience and what I read from others, you’ll find yourself advising “chill” over and over again.
I think, when this gets posted, we should have a red line on there pointing to where we are, time-wise, in its current iteration.
If he were to be elected (washes mouth out with soap), keep in mind both Nixon and Clinton were impeached in their second terms. There will have been enough time gone by to gather all the evidence to present a rock solid case for it rather than, oh it’s Monday, let’s impeach. “He’s just not worth it” at this point in time.
Which has me wondering why the hell Democrats are investigating anything at all, instesad of spending their time, money and energy on get out the vote and ballot access initiatives. Embarking on a two year course of committee hearings to drive a man from office that has 22 months left in his term seems a bit futile. And if the goal is to cinch in everyone’s mind he’s a lying crook, well, I think everyone’s opnions of him are pretty well set. Just how many people are going to think “Oh, now that I’ve seen what Nadler’s committee has exposed, I know what to think of Trump.”? There are two camps in this nation. Trump is a lying, grifting crook. Or Trump is a gift from God. There’s damned little in-between. So if the House is going to spend a bunch of money and time in an effort to blast the insufferable bastard out of office get the fuck on with it, because otherwise we can all do their work for them and just vote him out in less than two years. All we should see is a blur of assholes and elbows in my opinion. Calm and deliberate isn’t called for when there’s a mad ax murderer in the hallway downstairs.
IF he gets a second term and I really really really don’t think so - it will be the worst 2d term ever.
And he’ll likely be impeached and convicted.
“Who is the YIN to Cindy YANG?”
Congressional Dems want to know.
Keep in mind these hearings do create a narrative with allegations. The republicans found Hillary’s email server during the Bengazi investigation. These investigations do provide value for the public.
Conviction in a second term would be a much more likely outcome. Fat and lazy Rs got their next term, all settled in and cozy, no harm in voting their conscious at that time.
On AM Joy this weekend she interviewed Laurence Tribe, they agreed that with only 40% of the country in favor of it, it’s not the time. But soon enough.
Is there no end to this thing we call Presidential Harassment?
