Puts DOJ on the spot as I heard on Maddow they denied receiving such request. Obviously they were lying then. Will they continue the obfuscation or set the record straight?
The sheer quantity and quality of bullshit from this Administration on the Russia issue, on levels big and small, has to imply seriously dirty dealings at work.
This is the part of the show where Rosenstein gets skewered.
Additionally, a number of folks are reporting that there are numerous Grand Juries already convened on the Russia matters, and, according to Charles Taylor, one of them is extremely close to wrapping up.
Oh, and Comey was seen at the Eastern District…aka “rocket docket” Court just a few days ago. Mensch is saying that the FBI has requested up to 6 new FISA warrants.
I think this is another case of, despite a lot of evidence clearly pointing to cover up, the media is going with “We have no idea what is happening, and why he was fired. But we are going to give more credence to the people who have continually lied to us a daily basis, and favor the theory that its all about Comey’s response to the emails. Because hey, what else could it be? There is literally no other working theory or evidence out there.”
Could you please explain (or speculate) why the FBI would want 6 new FISA warrants now, at what seems a relatively late stage of the Russian collusion thing? Who do you think are the targets?
Unrelenting, highly publicized pressure, Citizen’s. Pour it on.

I hear the DOJ has appointed a new spokesman - a real man of integrity. His name is John Barron.
I honestly have no idea, because we don’t know who and what precisely the FBI is currently investigating. We can probably safely deduce that the investigation is widening, however, simply based on what is being reported on Comey’s request for more resources, and how he was reorganizing to focus their efforts on the Russian collusion investigations
Additionally, and again its purely supposition, it would make sense that if they have several Grand Juries already convened, that any expected indictments to come down from those could pave the way for “next step” investigations. Think in terms of “Ok, we have a indictment coming on person X. Lets get a wire up on person Y and Z now to see how they are reacting when that comes down”
Trump’s best bet was sacking Comey immediately upon taking office, but he must have thought Comey was “his guy” or else easily swayed. Firing him after the grand juries have already begun their work is several orders of magnitude worse than shutting the barn door after the horses have bolted.
Of course, he also thought he could keep Flynn on as long as the stories didn’t leak, and that his WH, which leaks like a sieve, could keep the stories hidden.
Yes, I saw some “reporting” this morning on, I think MSNBC, that Trump has been increasingly angry that Comey was “being his own man” and not “showing loyalty” to Trump.
Personally, I am assuming that Trump, who it was widely reported at the time went ballastic when Sessions recused himself. as been putting the pressure on Sessions to back off of that, and quite apparently, Sessions has agreed. You don’t fire the guy who is leading up the investigations and volunteer to find his replacement if you are recused. Sessions has been given marching orders to shut the whole thing down, optics be damned.
Which is a sign that they are all scared shitless of what the FBI has. Keeping my speculation hat on, I think it follows that, given all the attempts that the WH made to try and find out what the FBI had and who was being investigated, that they finally were able to get their answers. Probably precisely about the time ( a week ago more or less based on “insider reporting”) that Trump started yelling at the TV about Comey.
