What makes anyone think that the GOP give a good goddamn about anyone but themselves. They don’t care if premiums skyrocket, if people die or if the nation turns into a banana republic, as long as they hold the reins of power.
what they don’t have the foresight to realize is that sick and hungry people will look for someone to blame, and how long can they deflect while their erstwhile “leader” shits all over the people from his gold-plated toilet?
"I believe a year from now they will regret they
came out so fast out of the box."
They’re going to hear from me " day one " —
Hopefully the fire will burn the GOP’s feet within 3 mths …
What a shit show ! —
GOP: We are not worried about the political fallout. Our strategy of “Voting is for Whites Only” will take care of it. We love the uneducated Whites. We want more of them.
Even the uneducated Whites will get angry when their premiums sky rocket - or when they lose their medicare coverage. Hopefully, angry enough to turn the House in 2020.
Best case scenario: McConnell will put the brakes on, Trump will dump the blame on Ryan and/or Pence, and the dick-measuring contest will continue apace.
Nopes… They will not even have the coverage. Most dont want to deal with it or pay anything for it.
Probably. The GOP is essentially a giant ball of self-loathing comprised of members who hate each other, so I do fully expect them to start engaging in internal warfare
I sense a sternly worded letter coming on. Democrats need to make damn sure everyone knows who is Responsible for throwing people to the Health Insurance wolves again, well not again but without the protections the ACA provided, and since Republicans don’t have a plan to replace they need to propose their own: Republicans think the ACA didn’t work so lets use something with a proven track record of working and let people buy into Medicare.
There’s a ton of poor sick white people that got Obamacare and either didn’t make the connection or didn’t think their dood would actually repeal it. Ohio might never vote Repub again if they go through with this. Hell, they might lose Indiana and Kentucky, too. Lamar knows this. A few other Republican Senators know this. They’re nervous, but they’re in a box. They promised repeal for six years. Now they have to do it. They have no plan. They never will. Might as well jump, as the song says, and hope it all works out. Please proceed, Republicans.
Republicans run the country now. They are to blame for everything, and every worker knows they can’t keep a job for long when the thing they’re responsible for fails, and their excuse is to blame somebody else.
It’s the responsibility of Republicans now to make the transition smooth.
“They don’t have the votes for a replacement plan,” she told reporters. “Repeal and then delay is an act of cowardice.”
No, Congresswoman. It’s an act of malice.
Repeal and delay might be the only move they have. The whole thing has been a shell game from the start – hate sells, and consequences must be concealed – and anything that actually brings the consequences to the surface will be game-over.
The question is whether the r’s intend to change the election system so as to suppressany oppenents votes rather then worry about winning any future elections in even this warped system we have.
Remember voter suppression, combined with radical gerrymandering, has worked for them.
So just as an extreme example they could pass a law stating that the only voter id’s accepted nationally would be concealed weapons permits (texas already has variation. Concelaed weapons permits accepted as ID for voter registration student Id is not).
Or they could work some variation of Michigan by disenfranchising whole communities by making “emergency managers” laws national as a federal program.
Whether they would be legal would have to wait until a SCOTUS case but recently they have been of the opinion that before they will accept any case that standing, in the way of having suffered harm, has to be established. This has meant that the law must be in effect for at least 1 election cycle.
Even then by dragging out cases this could easily be extended to 2 or more ( Look NC )
These are extreme situations but we are in extreme times.
After 1 or more election cycles of disenfranchisement what sort of belief will people have that their vote counts?
What sort of damage would have been done to the world and, what was traditionally seen, as the US system of government.
Like I’ve said a million times, conservatives must be forced to live with their policies before they’ll figure out that they don’t work. Not a bright bunch. They’re only now kinda, sorta figurin out that trickle down doesn’t work in Kansas.
Some liberal who thinks he/she is so smart and thinks thinks they know everything and who thinks they’re better n downhome folks, isn’t going to be able to explain it to them. They’ll think the opposite just to spite that smartypants lilberal. Nope, they gotta live with it and come to their own conclusion.
So let em repeal. Let em end Medicare BUT have the courage to end it immediately, no phase out. Let conservative America live with that for a while. Go ahead and make cuts to Social Security but they must be NOW, not down the road. Hit these old Republican fucks right where they breathe.
Do that, and then lets watch them try to pin the blame on: illegals, gays, liberals or whomever.
The limpdick Dems need an articulate, brazen, pithy knife-fighter like me leading them. I say shit in a way people can understand it without dumbing it down, and I drive the point home with certainty and withering ridicule until my opponents crack. I never lose debates, because I only argue a point when I’ve got truth on my side. And I wield that shit like Darth Vader wields a lightsaber in a hallway full of feckless rebel soldiers.
Alas, they stick with these detached overtalkers.
“Democrats Will Try To Make Obamacare Repeal Super Awkward”
Democrats will put nasty comments on Paul Ryan’s facebook page and send embarrassing instagrams of Mitch McConnell’s double chin.
Mike frikken Pence accepted Medicaid expansion as Governor of Indiana as did nine other GOP govs so that the hospital/healthcare industry in their states could recoup some of the uncompensated care that was threatening to bankrupt them. What influence do they hold over their federal legislators?
The AHA is a huge lobby, but they’re supposedly much more active at the state level. So probably not so much. Pharma and the device companies will get theirs, followed by the insurers. The doctors will get tort reform they weren’t even asking for. The hospitals are probably just fucked.
Another important provision that is often neglected is that the ACA lifted the annual and lifetime limits. Ask any family dealing with serious and chronic health issues. They can certainly speak to how the ACA has been a lifeline.
