Discussion: Democrats Taking Another Shot At Releasing Their Rebuttal Memo

Unless the memo is blacked out from the first to the last word, the Donald will not release it.

I’m almost to the point that I’ll move from NYC to Fresno just so I can vote against Nunes…
Oh, the whore-er !!

That possible nudge toward progress came as both sides traded steamy recriminations over the matter.

Better than visualizing a Sweaty Nunes :grimacing:

Dems not working on it? hahahahahahahaha Nunes is a fool. I am embarrassed (Calif. state university graduate myself) by his lack of integrity and honesty combined with his very shallow critical thinking skills. He has a Masters? geeesh Cal Poly needs to review their criteria for grad school admissions. I was taught deeper critical thinking skills as an undergrad in natural resources mgt. Of course that was back in the 70’s before Prop 13 destroyed funding of schooling too.

I love it, thanks!

This is thing is a total farce. Democrats will look weak and reactive and defensive whatever they do, because that is in fact the reality. How about, just for once…turning the tables on these fuckers?

Just off the top of my head:

Write a second memo. Announce that it is really, really top secret and cannot be divulged because it is so earth-shatteringly serious. Then divulge it, in heavily redacted form. The memo will state that Democrats have reason to believe, from [redacted], that Devin Nunes is adhering to the interests of Russia and working with the WH to obstruct the Intelligence Committee’s investigation into the attack on our democracy, an attack which is still ongoing and in which Nunes is an active accomplice by virtue of his obstruction and [redacted]. Implicate [redacted] in the White House.

Get a cat like the one in the gif above. Put it among the pigeons. Put Nunes in his fucking place.

If Democrats agree to block out so much that the memo makes no sense, Trump might OK it.

Oh, fer chis’sake: He is Comrade Cockholster not King Cockholster!

The President doesn’t have the power to block the HPSCI from releasing its memo.

I wholeheartedly agree with this opinion.
Otherwise, there is no longer that quaint but precious notion of Separation of Powers.

Nunes: “…down there all day yesterday redacting it, getting it back over to the White House so that the public can know what’s in it.”

That’s quite the contradictory statement. Rather like “Destroy the village to save the village”?

How does redacting help us to “know what’s in it”, if it’s redacted?

Nunes talks like this all the time. He takes ‘doublespeak’ to a whole new level with this nonsense.

Trump Shill: “We’re not afraid of transparency.”

Really?

Then release Trump’s tax returns for the past 10 years.

Or STFU.

But as I understand it, Republicans on the committee voted to release it after redaction approved by the White House And it is the whole committee, not just Democrats, that has to approve the release.

I’ve been wondering about this myself. Why does the President get to “vote” on whether these findings are released at all? Shouldn’t that be handled by the agencies with the career experts on these matters?

Trump didn’t talk much about the “facts” or “secrets” contained in the Schiff Memo. No, like he did with that TV interview reL firing Comey, where he made it clear it was about the “Trump-Russia” thing… here he does the same, initially coming out with his reason for denying its release, “The memo was longer and more political”. Nothing to do with “national security” and everything to do with “my vote is measured by how much harm it may do to me”.

iow, yet more actual obstruction of justice.

How much longer are we going to play this stupid cat and mouse game with Trump, and somehow make it seem OK? Can we just get down to the business of facts, evidence and conclusion? Come on.

Momma always said, “Guilty is as guilty does’…” or something like that.

I was under the impression that it was more of a courtesy (sending it to the White House) rather than any legal requirement. It’s not like their enacting legislation.

I will admit, however, that I have no idea where I got that notion. Perhaps it was just wishful thinking, sort of like hoping to find the elusive Rethuglklan with a backbone; I do love cryptozoology.

Nunes district is politically apathetic, poor and lacking in economic opportunity. What is remarkable is that he can blame others for his problems, such as the San Francisco liberals out to steal his water or lazy Democrats not studying their redactions, without an outcry from his constituents. The Fresno Bee has done nothing throughout this spectacle. Such achievement for a D student who ate the construction paper paste.

As long as rethugs have complete control of all three branches, that’s how long. Rest assured, they are loving absolute power, and will use voter suppression, gerrymandering, russia, the largesse fr their tax scam, fake news, fox, breitbart, 700 club, nazis, etc, to stay in power

  1. The Committee voted unanimously to release it.

  2. If there must be redactions, fine. Release it with them. The public will know, based on how much is redacted, whether it is significant or not. Everyone knows how to read between the lines.

As I understand it @tiowally, trump thinks the government is as follows: Executive Branch, the Senate, and the House. Having failed Civics 101 he never understood it’s really the Executive Branch, the Legislative Branch and the Judicial Branch all of which are supposedly co-equal. He also apparently think that as president he can do whatever the fuck he pleases. Like Nixon’s famous quote said to David Frost… “Well, when the president does it, that means that it is not illegal.”

Intentional or not, this whole memogate affair feels like Kabuki theater, meant to distract from more important occurrences.

Republicans hyperventilated, then finally released their memo, which promptly landed with a thud. At that point, the Dems had already won the propaganda games, but it was in their interest to stretch it out for as long as possible to highlight Republican malfeasance. And so they have, deliberately or not.

Meanwhile, Mueller keeps plugging away, getting ready to interview Bannon and God knows who else. That’s the real story, and of course, Brand’s resignation, as I see it.
