“It’s pretty obvious this is all about delaying the process but the accuser has a right to be heard,” he said. “Monday is her opportunity.”
“We just won’t allow her to present any evidence,” he continued. “After all, he was just horsing around with that girl that he never met that time it never happened at that party he was never at. Just horseplay.”
The R strategy may be this simple: set the hearing (without consultation) and hope Ms Ford doesn’t show up. Once she calls their bluff this thing just might be over.
Kavanaugh spokesperson/activist says it's not clear that the incident was attempted rape as opposed to just "rough horseplay". pic.twitter.com/cANvVNjFKX

So Kavanaugh has also forced himself onto barnyard animals?
I guess they figure it will play well in Red States.
“Do the right thing!” she said while pointing at him…
Oh, Mazie. I’ll follow you anywhere. But for Mr Wattles, doing the right thing, as far as I’m concerned, would involve nearly impossible feats of gymnastic contortion, followed by his immediate resignation.
Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI): “To the men in this country, just shut up and step up. Do the right thing for a change.”
Coco Chanel: “As long as you know men are like children, you know everything.”
If the Republicans wanted to assess the truth of the allegations, they would regard corroborating witnesses as essential to the effort. What we have here is pretty obviously an attempt to pretend to investigate and then approve the nominee. On the bright side, it may be possible to show that Kavanaugh lied under oath (as he assuredly will do on Monday), if further evidence is gathered.
Who among us has not engaged in rough horseplay that never happened at parties we were never at?
***EDIT: After reading my post, I realized it was unclear, because I meant to say “WOULDN’T” – Who among us has not engaged in horseplay that WOULDN’T never happened at parties we were never at. See?
“…if further evidence is gathered.”
Hell, the repugnicans have already SEEN all the evidence.
That’s why they’ll make EVERY attempt to ram this slimeball through, post haste.
Basey Ford’s attorney has not gotten back to the committee. I don’t see how Ms. Katz would allow her client to participate in this forum under the current conditions. I’m betting that she will come back with an alternative proposal: “Get Mark Judge there, or no dice.”
“#IDidn’tStandByBrettAtTheUnspecifiedPartyHeNeverAttended”
The Rs desperately want this to be a “he said - she said” situation.
They’ll prevent introduction of other evidence, then shrug their shoulders and say “What can you do?”
@reggid, I think you were right the first time.
And Repubs still demoralizing women.
At the press conference he called Christine Blasey Ford that women…
edited to ad Dump just called her the woman…
Shorter Repubs: Well, we held the hearing. Brett didn’t agree with a thing she said. What did we tell you? No corroboration!
The the patriarch white supremacists, pillorying an assault victim to achieve their mission of stacking all US courts with fascists IS the right thing.
How is this hearing going to reveal anything more than we already know? It’s still he said she said and as usual, in these cases, the press will declare a winner and a loser depending on how “they come off” and how “sincere” each of them seems. Bullshit! This is a PR stunt and should be labeled as such.
Mazie, you are my new hero. I want a t-shirt with a pic and caption of her pointing at Turtle.
Repubs on the Judiciary Committee couldn’t two fucking shits about any of this - they are barely even pretending to care. Once Kavanaugh is confirmed, their right-wing, corporatist ideological takeover of the SupCt is complete. Kavanaugh could pass around wallet-sized photos of him actually committing the rape and Grassley et al. would still vote on strict party lines to send his nom to the full Senate - where Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski will surely disappoint us again.
