Discussion: Democratic Senator Says He Looks Forward To Working With Donald Trump

Not a Democrat. Surprised he hasn’t switched teams yet.

In addition to being a key swing state senator, Manchin also faces re-election in 2018 in a state that Trump won handedly.

handedly handily

Primary this Vichy asshole.

Shorter Manchin: I will be a Republican soon and still lose the damn reelection. I am hoping Trump will go easy on my daughter(Mylan CEO) and let her bill obscene amount for drugs(Epipen) to our govt.

In West Virginia? Good luck

Another Joe Lieberman. He’s a fucking traitor and should earn a primary challenge or just booted from the Democratic caucus (I know, I know. Senate Dems lack the cojones to do it).

I actually think this is a good strategy. Democrats know Trump is going to fail. Talking up all this bipartisan bullshit looks good. It looks like they are willing to help Trump achieve these populist ideas like brings jobs back and investing in infrastructure. But that wouldn’t happen. Instead the social safety net will be dismantled. That will not be popular in West Virginia, one of the poorest states. In 2018 Trump state Democrats like Machin can easily say they stood up for the voters while the Republicans ruined everything.

Maybe I’m completely off. But for the Democrats to miraculously take back the Senate in 2018 (or more likely 2020) Trump states like West Virginia need to elect Democrats. There are more red states than blue.

I have always believed that public officials must put their state and country first and set aside partisan politics

Ok Sen. Manchin, let us see how quickly you get conned. If you had balls, you’d demand, not ask, that Trump show he’s capeable of putting country first, by saving Obamacare that your WV constituents rely on. He can further prove his worth by pushing job training and free community college programs to help move your WV constituents from corrupt and dirty jobs to new clean energy jobs. Trump can then provide some monetary incentives to clean energy to help promote transition of coal/oil industry to new modern (and cheaper and cleaner) energy industries, all of which your WV constituents rely on.

Then and only then, will Trump shown he’s capeable of putting country first. But my guess is Sen. Manchin will cave at the first little bit of pressure he feels. Prove to us you’re not a coward.

I fucking hate Manchin. DIAF you fence-sitting douchenozzle.

Please note: we need FOUR of the GOPers to defect to protect us from the GOP and shit like Medicare privatization, not THREE. You can thank Manchin for his unwavering support when it’s your turn to die without healthcare a year after retiring.

Coming from a blue state Lieberman is more inexcusable. West Virginia on the other hand is electorally a lost cause and so is Manchin. 68% of its votes went to HO.

Having said that, maybe he could still be useful in an upcoming Medicare/ACA fight…

“I have always believed that public officials must put their state and country first and set aside partisan politics to do what’s right for the people they serve.”

Uh, Joe, I do believe your re-election and own self-interest are entering into the whole “must put first” thing, to the point of pushing aside the part about state, country, and the people you serve.

There are rumors that Trump will appoint Manchin to be Secretary of Energy, thereby giving the GOP another Senate seat.

I wouldn’t go too hard on him. He’s about as good as we’re going to get in WV, and for a majority a body is a body.
