Discussion: Democrat Drops Out Of Kansas Senate Race

Discussion for article #227209

I recall a HuffPo article about this race last week that said Taylor dropping out could deny the GOP a Senate Majority by creating an opening for Orman. I guess it’s possible especially with Brownback trailing in the Governor’s race too.

Anyone really knowledgeable know what to make of this?
I sure as hell don’t.
Wonder what guys like Nate Silverman say.

Doing what you think is best for your state instead of what lets you collect the maximum amount of campaign funds: what the GOP thinks of as “corrupt”.

What in the wide wide world? There is far more to this tale. I expect $$$ is involved.

Or something in his closet

“Strategery.” heh heh.

Orman is an Independent, and his ads lead me to believe he’s something like an old style moderate Republican. He’d be better than Roberts any day of the week.

Yeah, how about that. I suspect the State Democratic Party had polling that showed the vast majority of his support would break for the independent.

Plus, I think he’s broke. Very few ads on TV compared to Roberts and Orman. I’ve seen his one ad maybe 4 or 5 times compared to Orman and Roberts who run ads on every channel repetitively.

Also, he doesn’t like green eggs and ham

Yeah boy, Roberts is making bizarre comments on television now blaming a deal Taylor cut with Harry Reid to let someone the liberals like win. He’s such a damn weirdo.

I’m liking this “Dems being smart” strategy in these three-way races, especially if Orman will caucus with the Dems. Kind of seems like a reasonable hope since he’s a former Dem.

Same thing is happening in the Guv’s race in Alaska. The Dem Mallott joined the Indie Walker’s campaign as his running mate. From what I’ve read, Parnell is not particularly popular, but had a comfortable lead against the other two candidates. Overnight RCP changed the race from Likely GOP to Leans GOP.

Let the GOP whine that they are being attacked … they are!

I’m not really knowledgeable about this, but I’ve read elsewhere that this very thing might happen if Democrats could secure a promise from Orman that he’d caucus with Democrats if he won.

So, Orman might be playing possum here a little regarding his surprise, seeing as his campaign is based on his independence from either party. We’ll see how long he’s able to do that, though–Kansas is a small state.

Where’s the “corruption,” Senator Roberts? Show me how Chad Taylor took a bribe or was promised a high-paying job in exchange for dropping out, and then we’ll talk. Until then, it’s just empty rhetoric.

Seems to be a smart move; Orman has a better chance of winning against Roberts with Taylor out.

But typical Roberts; blaming libs and Reid now, maybe Obama and Pelosi will be later.

I don’t really see what’s corrupt about getting out of each other’s way. When the tea party officially becomes a third party, I can see this happening all over the right-wing during state elections.

I read that article too and was a bit incredulous. I will take an indy who will caucus with the Dems just as happily as I would accept an actual Dem. This is about winning and asses in seats.

Ummmm paging the indy and Dem candidates in Maine. Chad Taylor is on line one, line one.
