Rep. Elijah Cummings, a Maryland Democrat and the ranking member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, used the time he was allocated to question Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards to talk about Wall Street and corporate accountability.
"The chairman just gave you a series of questions, I have a few other ones: Ms. Richards I find it extremely hypocritical that Republicans on this committee have criticized your salary when you have violated no laws, while these same Republicans completely ignore the CEOs of huge companies that are actually guilty of breaking the law.
Earlier this year, Citigroup, J.P. Morgan and other banks pledguilty to manipulating currency markets and interest rates. They were fined more than $5 billion for their actions. And yet Citigroupās CEO still received $13 million last year, and J.P. Morganās CEO received $20 million. These banks get extensive federal support [ā¦] Ms. Richards, do you know if House Republicans made any effort to strip the banks of their federal support? Well I can tell you, they didnāt."
Moral of the story:
If you want to break the law and still receive Federal money - be a bank.
If you want to provide safe reliable health and sex education that empowers women, men, teens and families - forget it.
Unless Ms. Richards has made her tax return public, it is highly illegal for Chaffetz to have access to it.
The IRS frowns on that kind of behaviorāto the point of prosecuting people who gain such access to private tax records.
Cheffetz thought it cool to beat Richards up over her salary. Apparently she makes too much money for a woman. Donāt tell me there isnāt a war on women being waged by the forces of male privilege and power.
These Jerks just spent an entire day making video clips for every Democrat in the country who has the sense to use them against Republicans in the 2016 campaign.
