Discussion: Dem Senator: I Don't Want To Say O'Care Repeal Is DOA In The Senate, But It Is

I am shocked! Who’d have thought the House would dump this POS on the Senate knowing it would die? Those courageous GOP House members …

“Why would you throw the baby out with the bathwater with 51 and then try to basically bring the baby back to life and resuscitate it with 60? The votes aren’t there.”

If they have to pass a half-assed version to get it through via reconciliation, then that’s what they will do.

That ain’t rocket science. They’ll pass anything they can ram through that sidesteps a filibuster.

You are already on very very thin ice Joe.

Let the House pass it…while I would rather see it crash and burn there, I’m going to love watching the town halls and the 2018 campaign with these GOP cretins ON THE RECORD for taking away health care to more an 24 million people.

Perhaps those who face tough reelection battles intend to use this to combat the charge that they voted for this POS: “Yes, I voted for it, but I knew it didn’t stand a chance of getting through the Senate. Just like all the other sixty-some times I voted for repeal.”

that’s ok. i’m sure when/if anyone ever actually gets a chance to see the “bill” that these evil fucks vote “yes” on, there will be more than enough choice passages with which to beat them over the head in the midterms.

…except the boat is in a volcano…and they’re sprinting off the plank while shouting, “Check this out, broskies!!!”

Getting enough people to vote for a bill that will ultimately fail isn’t a success.

It’s a failure.

These morons must really hate their jobs, because what they’re doing today is taking a giant leap toward losing them.

What problem do you actually have with what he said?

Obviously their are problem with the ACA, some of those were created by Republican obstruction after the fact, but none the less, having counties where their is only a single insurance company is not what the Democrats were working towards. Reforms are needed to make it function better.

I’ve been watching the AEI guy make the arguments they’re feeding the so-called moderates, and they must be within 2 or 3 bribe-able(with K street job guarantees after the election) moderates to get it through. But they’ve pushed it back once already today, and we have the sterling vote-counting ability of Ryan and McCarthy as the authority for the passage. And boy, if it fails again, it’ll be the Greatest Clown Show On Earth.

Any Democrat in West Virginia is on very, very thin ice. It goes with the territory.

Counties in red went for Trump. Counties in blue went for Clinton

At this point fear of another failed vote and the need to “get a win” is what’s getting this wreck over the finish line. The contents of the bill no longer matter to the GOP - just get 'er done!

I agree with the bribing, though. You can already see the smarter representatives lining up their cushy gigs before the rush.

I trust Manchin about as far as I can piss up a wall without using my hands.

I used to wonder why a lobbying company would hire someone who had a perfect record of zero accomplishments.

If the Congressweasels don’t even know what they’re voting on, how is the public supposed to be aware?

Yep, let the House pass this, let the depth of its immoral depravity become known, and the pitchforks will come out.

Well, I was surprised to see that that fear seems not to be enough. They’re pointing out that their sabotage(my word, not theirs)is going to make for an ugly set of numbers on the exchanges in a few months, and that failure to put the thing through now will look worse in a few months than passing the POS. Not enough to keep them from buffing up their resumes.

Sounds to me like Drumpfie just wore them down. With Ryan piping in the background.

That’s probably how he “won” most of his battles with the little guys that he stiffed, drove out of business or paid cents on the dollar. At some point, you just can’t hear it any more.

I don’t know, I don’t trust McConnell on anything for any reason, he’s even more of a rule-twisting piece of shit than Ryan is. The quality of the bill is obviously not important to Republicans and never has been, so if they can try to ram it through they will, and Pumpkin Spice Pretender will sign any old thing that comes across his desk for a few days of favorable coverage.
