Discussion: Dem Sen. Joe Manchin To Introduce Rick Perry At Confirmation Hearing

I understand the rationale that any Democrat is better than a Republican holding a seat . . . . but not by that much. Should we assume that Manchin will vote for Perry as Energy Secretary?

There’s no Democrat in congress that needs a primary opponent more than Manchin.

He is every bit the weasel that Lieberman was/is.

I hate Manchin. Hate him. He’s everything that undermines our ability to get anything done or even defend ourselves from the GOP/Teatrolls. Fuck him deep in his rectum and may it prolapse during the introduction speech.

Perry is dumb as a bag of hammers on most issues and corrupt as they come, but he does know how to do one thing really well, and that’s make a deal between people, real deals because he knows where the bodies are buried and also finds out what parties want. (Trump makes deals like a mobster, ones they can’t refuse, or ones that he can’t.) In some ways it’s better than having a True Believer like, say, Pence.

Manchin’s playing a dangerous game, but I don’t have a problem with conservative Democrats serving conservative districts if the alternative is a GOP bootlicker. Manchin though takes things way past that point, repeatedly.

At this point, Schumer needs to take him aside and ask “Is you is, or is you ain’t a Democrat”. And, depending on the answer, have a 3 foot piece of 2.5 inch radiator hose ready and waiting within arm’s reach.

I ran across video of Manchin’s dress rehearsal for introducing Rick “Good Hair” Perry.

Manchin: “There are three things that I’ve always admired about Rick Perry, and I can’t remember any of them.”

Sociopaths have no party. He’s a fraud.

Texas has done much damage to America. Perry is but one example.

Save Austin, a great town.

I hope it works out well for him.

According to Paul Finebaum of ESPN, Manchin and Nick Saban are best buddies. Doesn’t say much on behalf of either one, does it?

First question to Perry: Differentiate nuclear fission and nuclear fusion structurally and functionally.

Why doesn’t he change parties already? Does he really want his constituents do die from black lung?

He shouldn’t change parties until his specified legislation is enacted into law and signed by the unPresident.

Trump and Mitch McConnell will take care of the miners with much fan fare for coal and Kentucky,

A Republidem for sure … like Lieberman !! Manchin showed his stripes before the election.

He could have and should have told the hill williams of WVA that rump was just bullshittin’ and there was no way that anybody can bring back those coal jobs. They are gone for good and not because Hillary “done it” … diggin’ coal is pretty much obsolete. Now they won’t get Hillary’s retraining program and they are gonna’ lose their black lung money (the ACA).

Manchin betrayed them all by not telling them the truth. A lot of that goin’ around last year !!!

Note: My people were all from the Charleston WVA area and migrated in the early forties.

Manchin is in survival mode, because West Virginia went whole hog Republican. His moves are all about what is going on in West Virginia. Give him a break. Hope he remains a Democrat, for at strategic times his vote could be key.

What if the Republican is a former Olympian?

Mary Lou Retton was asked to run in the state’s GOP primary.

Edited

Bernie won the West Virginia primary. Manchin still hasn’t figured that one out.
