Discussion for article #225486
Walsh wasn’t doing so hot in the polls before he made that statement. This seat goes Red, I’m thinking…
I suggest dropping out or giving a real apology.
Millions of vets who went to college on the GI Bill didn’t cheat. If he was suffering PTSD such that he couldn’t focus properly on his studies, I am sure that a leave of absence could have been arranged. There is no excuse for cheating, and the fact that he is attempting such a lame one, rather than admitting his fault speaks poorly of him.
"“I don’t want to blame my mistake on PTSD, but I do want to say it may have been a factor…”
This is called playing the vet card.
Hard to believe this guy has PTSD.
If he really and demonstrably does have PTSD, I offer my profound sympathy, but I submit it disqualifies him for public office.
Well, there’s one seat the Republicans are now going to pick up with ease.
Stop.
Just once, I wish someone would just cop to doing what they were caught doing when they’re caught doing it.
PTSD in and of itself, and depending on the severity, is treatable and not a permanent disability. I’ve had it too. It doesn’t disqualify you from anything, especially permanently. That’s the kind of stigma that makes people not want to report their problems and get the therapy they need.
Oh jeeez’! Sir when in a hole, stop digging. Now you’ve just moved from the ridiculous to the absurd. This kind of overreach for an excuse of any kind makes you look silly and it cheapens the very real trauma and personal torment of those who suffer PTSD. Fess’ up and move on.
Oh fuck you, jackass.
Did you accidentally take “Plagarism Pills”, which sounds like something idiotic out of a Jetsons episode?
He sounds like a Republican anyways.
Oh PLEASE!
Just admit the plagiarism and MOVE ON.
Why haven’t ANY politicians EVER learned the “Watergate Effect”?
(that the Coverup/Spin is waaaaaay more damaging to you than just admitting the truth and taking your lumps.)
What’s funny to me is I was finishing my undergrad WHILE I had PTSD symptoms, and the nightmares and depression he was talking about and it didn’t make me plagiarize, lol.
“It was a moment of weakness. Plus I didn’t think I would get caught.”
There you go. It comes at it from a perspective everyone has lived through (I didn’t think I’d get caught) and makes it a one-time thing.
Until he gets caught in something else, but that’s a problem for later.
Lying might also be a factor.
My cousin has PTSD, in reading the side effects notice on her medication it clearly states there is a substantial risk of Plagiarism when using these meds. It recommends not writing dissertations while taking it.
OT but he looks like that crazy white guy in the Ren & Stimpy cartoons
This was a mistake from the start. He needs to take care of his medical needs, no excuses required. In the mean time we need a replacement candidate.
