Perhaps Tweeden and her buddy roger stone have opened a can of worms that will create a great deal of miscomfort in D.C. I really don’t care what party the gropers belong the sunlight may help fix the problem.
While I believe the Franken incident may well be a hit piece - considering the players - I also support the Senator’s call for a complete investigation.
All this “me too” movement is doing is de-legitimizing serious sexual harassment issues (or worse) by equating them to men just being buffoons, as we have been since time immemorial.
Speaking of metoo, the Pentagon seems to be on the bandwagon, if only very briefly:
My god what a waste. Why investigate something that’s been admitted to, apologized for, and had apology accepted?
It’s done.
Over.
But no, let’s waste more money and time.
By the way this insane sexual smokescreen being thrown up by the media right now is unbelievable. While Trump trumps, healthcare is being done away with and the wealthy are on the verge of getting an historic tax cuts. Fck the way this system works. Gd damn lemmings, all of them.
How do we protect the survivor so that in the end
they’re not labeled a troublemaker? It sounds great for the moment, but
are they going to be able to get the next job?” she said.
Still a huge problem.
I read your comment before I looked at your username. When I read “men just being buffoons” I thought, this has GOT to be written by a man. I cannot educate you in a single comment in this threat, but if you want “serious sexual harassment issues (or worse)” to be treated as legitimate, you need to understand the importance of power differentials. What you consider amusing (bufoonish) behavior only seems so from the vantage point of someone with power. Seriously, please try to learn more about the impact of power in the whole sexual harassment/assault discussion so you can better understand perspective of the powerless or less powerful (not just women).
I agree it’s a smokescreen along with a waste of money and time; however, ritual is the way of D.C. and will be accomadated.
I am so grateful I have 3 older brothers and 1 sister who taught me not to take shit from anyone and for my brothers teaching me how to make that very clear.
I could “me too” also too, except for the fact that when it happened to me, it didn’t get very far and I made it quite clear if any of my boundaries were crossed. Still do. Damn the torpedoes.
We’re being force fed #metoo and other sexual harassment stories here at TPM because it’s provocative and prompts clicks and discussion. Look around mainstream media, you’ll see there is more going on including reporting, discussion and condemnation of the tax bill
MOST women of a certain age have a ‘me,too’ story and it’s cathartic to get it out there. What is needed by the PUBLIC and the MEDIA is to differentiate between assault, misconduct, harassment or just plain stupidity. So far, it’s been lumped together and is treated with ‘outrage’ by whichever ‘group’ thinks they’ll benefit. I’m sorry but with the Franken story we have jumped the shark. Tasteless? Sure. Juvenile? Totally. A reason to lose his job? GIVE ME A FREAKIN’ BREAK. WHERE are the women in this? Aren’t the ‘outraged’ sexualizing this by making all these women VICTIMS? Where is their responsibility in this to stand up for themselves? I understand some of them being afraid to lose their jobs but sometimes you need to look people in the face and say ‘this is not OK.’
The problem is that the left is simply unable to make a proportionate response. The standard is Absolute Purity. Franken has been caught going 31 in a 30 MPH zone, and thus the death penalty is required.
He apologized, the apology was accepted, THE END.
The continual moving goalposts on this sex assault thing is very concerning. If being part of a stupid picture and kissing someone too enthusiastically are capital crimes, no man is safe or innocent.
