“inappropriate to speak to survivors”

That is the first time i heard that used as a excuse.

“However, as you are no doubt aware, the law prevents me from doing so at this time.”

That’s the biggest pile of horse manure I’ve ever heard. The freakazoid has already been tried and convicted. What is there to prevent her from doing so beyond her lying excuse, other than her fear she’ll be mistaken for an actual Secretary of Education if she does so? Nope. Can’t have that, can we?

I don’t mind jumping all over Betsy but she might actually be prohibited. We need some reporting.

"Therefore I want to thank you for your request that I meet with Michigan State University Title IX survivor-advocates to hear about their experience and how to prevent sexual assault on college campuses,” she [DeVos] wrote, according to the report. “However, as you are no doubt aware, the law prevents me from doing so at this time.”

Translation: “I cannot dirty my hands nor sully myself in the presence of sexual assault victims. Euww.”

DeVos is nothing but an elitist bitch.

She couldn’t meet with assault survivors due to an outbreak of bone spurs. #courage

“I have the utmost respect for the bravery displayed by the survivors of his despicable sexual assaults. Therefore I want to thank you for your request that I meet with Michigan State University Title IX survivor-advocates to hear about their experience and how to prevent sexual assault on college campuses,” she wrote, according to the report. “However, as you are no doubt aware, the law prevents me from doing so at this time.”

“Plus, it was just locker-room sexual assault.”

Nope. Nothing left legally except more lawsuits. The ones against Nassar will go nowhere unless they’re able to take whatever finances, property he has left on the outside as compensatory to the victims.

From Wikipedia:

[Nassar’s} earliest possible release from federal custody will be March 23, 2069, by which time he would be 105 years old; if he is still alive at that point, he will then begin his state sentences.

Also this:

Following Nassar’s conviction, more than 150 federal and state lawsuits have been filed against him, Michigan State University, the US Olympic Committee, USA Gymnastics, and the Twistars Gymnastics Club.

If that’s the reason she can’t meet with the victims, in order to offer any form of compassion for what they’ve been through, than she is using some bogus legal rationale. Her role is not as a prosecutor or as a defense attorney. It is as head of an agency at the Department of Education as the nation’s leader for all students, teachers and administrators. How hard is that?

Don’t forget that DeVos recently said she didn’t like publicity. Not doing her job is the best way to avoid it.

She’s really dumb for an incredibly stupid person.

Betsy is incapable of feeling anyone’s pain. That’s the main reason she avoids anything to do with real people with real feelings. She’s fucking artificial from her nuts to her bolts. She’s robotic.

As a lawyer I can tell you in cases like this you look for the deep pocket. In this case that would include a lot of institutions that may have turned a blind eye to Nassar’s activities including among others, the University of Michigan, and the US Olympic Committee. There is no way that conviction of Nassar ends this case. It is probably just getting started. I don’t know what role the US Department of Education plays in this case, but to say that Betsy doesn’t have an argument simply because Nassar is going away for the rest of his life is to miss the point of all potential the third party litigation.

Betsy DeVos is a lousy Secretary of Education and a pompous ass, but we need somebody to check out her claim that she can’t talk to the victims because of on-going investigations before we jump to the conclusion that she won’t talk to the victims because she thinks talking to poor victims is ucky.

It’s not just Roy Moore, Donald Trump, and Gym Jordan, but essentially it’s GOP policy to oppose any remedies for sexual abuse. What a fine group of people.

DeVos is a soulless monster. She can’t be bothered to care about the little people whether they’re abuse victims or Special Olympians.

Totally disagree…I’m not a lawyer but there are victims, he was convicted, he’s not getting out anytime in our lifetime, and even if there are other entities involved as is always the case, the head of the Dept. of Education can show up to offer compassion, even if its fake understanding to his victims without running afoul of any ongoing litigation. There’s no reason the head of the Dept. of Education can’t do her fucking job addressing students and athletes under her purview regardless of any ongoing lawsuits. That’s her g-ddamn job. I’ll add, that’s what leadership would look like if she did.

“However, as you are no doubt aware, the law prevents me from doing so at this time.”

She has the legal right to visit Nassar or any other prisoner in the country yet when it comes to meeting with crime victims and their families as her role as education secretary she simply refuses to.
Remember when Republicans used to kind of care about crime victims and make it an integral part of their platform?

Maybe she thought she’d get locker room lice or something if she met with those athletes.

FFS. What an vile, arrogant, elitist, vindictive and pathetic excuse for a human being (I’m making assumptions here about the latter).

While attempting to chip away at Obama-era guidelines on campus sexual assault, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos said she won’t meet with the victims who were sexually abused by ex-Michigan State and Olympic gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar.

Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) told the Detroit Free Press on Wednesday that after a discussion on DeVos’ proposed changes to Title IX, the education secretary turned down Slotkin’s invitation to meet with the survivors of Nassar’s abuse.

While it’s fun to dump on Betsy Wetsy let’s not forget she is directing her agency to change guidlines on how sexual assault is handled on campuses. So what she’s trying to cover over is that she wants the Ed Dept. to allow those who are alleged rapists and assaulters to be able to question the victims. Can’t see how talking to Nassar’s victims would be legally irresponsible since Nassar was staff and not a fellow student. Oh she is too chicken to be told how MSU failed to protect students, how this predates Obama’s administration guideline changes.
There are some who demand that all allegations of rape and sexual assault be handled by the police, but which police campus or local. How would that change the ability for the administration to cover up when it’s one of their own?

I think she’s been delayed by the Romanian Peasant Women who are busy embroidering " I Don’t Care Do U" on a Thai Silk jacket that is up-copying Melania’s.
2 of the Romanians broke their wrists during the Spring Planting and did not report to the shop last week.
Of course, DeVos will wear her usual tacky blouse with it, but it’s just not ready yet. Be Patient, if you can’t Be Best.
