Though it might sound partisan to some, these are serious concerns Rep. Cicilline and Sen. Reid (and others) bring up. This is very serious and Donald J. Trump is one of the most dangerous demagogic actors on the world stage we’ve seen in some time.
America must be protected. Good idea.
maybe they should just send Donnie’s briefings directly to Putin for his input and mark ups and then Putin could just pass them along to his good buddy…
I disagree. Trump has a chance to be president, and if he is he needs to know what is going on as soon as possible no matter how odious he is. If he does share with Russia, it will come out before the election and he will lose or it will come out after and he will be impeached.
He needs to be given some kind of info, just so he can’t cry foul when Hillary creams him in the debates.
Maybe those children’s books the right-wing uses to teach about the scary other-man.
These briefings, and their content, are all at Obama’s discretion, right? I certainly trust him to do the right thing.
Best, I think, would be if he gave Trump briefings but had them be like “These are the countries making up the E. U.” or “Puerto Rico is a territory of the United States.” See how long it takes the talking yam to have a public meltdown over “being treated very unfairly.”
There is no amount of information or briefing you can give Trump that will make the slightest difference to what he does. He’s not going to pay attention, he’s just going to listen for the bits that confirm what he thinks he knows and dismiss the rest. They might as well just fill the briefing book with soup recipes for all the difference it would make to what he does. The only person who will benefit from giving him real information is Putin.
Not likely to happen. Alternatively: make the intelligence briefings public to all.
There will be other people in the room.
SO HITLAry CAN hACK HEr EMAILS TO RUsSia and NOTHING? IOKIYALibard.
Reid is right, they should just fake it. Show him some action clips from Homeland and tell him it’s video of our agents at work. He’s clueless enough to believe it.
Very nice. Take that Chaffetz you little suck.
as well as explain to him what they mean.
Well, The Donald IS the nominee of a more-or-less major party, so I don’t see how you can keep him from getting the briefings. But that doesn’t mean that the briefings he gets can’t consist of stuff we want the Russians to know, or stuff they already know, or stuff we’d like them to know that ain’t true.
Are briefings oral or written or both? Can they secretly be recorded?
Maybe they should just adjust the “intelligence” level for Trump–“Now this bit of news is about Russia…its the big one over here on the map, and they do bad things, OK, got it?”
We should feed him false information and see if he feeds it to Putin.
They should insert “a gotcha” into the briefings – an absurd, but politically irresistible bit of disinformation to see just how long it takes for Trump to let classified information slip from his diarrhea mouth. Then say they were “just kidding – only being sarcastic!”
Heh – I was posting the same thought at the same time!
