What is he apologizing for exactly? How was he minimizing ugly behavior?
Why did Representative Swalwell apologize. Why do the Democrats always apologize. There was nothing inappropriate in his tweet. It is all true. You never hear Republicans apologize for their evil, hateful words and innuendoes.
Sen Collins is pathetic in making herself the issue rather than the real issue of a sexual assualter’s nomination to SCOTUS, being pushed through by blatant lies by Grassley.
Although Rep. Swalwell didn’t need to interject “Boo hoo hoo” the rest of his tweet is valid.
What is never really stated is from which side are the “pretty ugly voicemails, threats, terrible things said to my staff” coming from? The Right or the Left? Who is trying to influence your vote, Sen. Collins?

Susan Collins is a whining ass. How many disrespectful things has she uttered about her own constituents? Has she ever apologized?

Right, this is the same coward who has claimed that voters saying that they will donate to her opponent in 2020 if she voted for Kavanaugh were trying to “blackmail” her.

Swalwell apologized because he has a modicum of decency.
But if he really wanted to demonstrate his sincere remorse he should schedule town halls for the beleaguered Senator in Maine this weekend so he can express his contriteness in person, in front of her throngs of adoring constituents. I’m sure she’d welcome the opportunity to hear from them.
At this point, I’d have to see proof that the “threats” are even anything worse than mild disagreement. The R’s have been whining “fake news” so long that this feels very faked. Of course they’re going to claim victimhood, even as they strip Dr Ford of any chance at impartiality.
And Representative, even though you were 100% correct, just stay aboveboard, and leave the mocking to us!

I thought this was a brilliant tactic. The plan, according to organizers, is that anyone who donates won’t be charged if Collins votes “No” on Kavanaugh. Only then will the war chest will be handed over to her opponent.
I really don’t know. There was zero need to apologize. What he said was 100% true. Collins is complaining about death threats yet has a security detail. What does Dr. Ford have to protect her family? Thoughts and prayers?

She has. But he usually speaks with decorum (and I suspect he might be eyeing higher office aspirations in the future), so I think he realized the tone was off character - for him.
This is why we need a leftwing echo hammer. Our dem politicians are feeling the void and having to step in because nobody else is calling RWNJs on this stuff. News orgs have journalistic ethics. Dem pols have ethics. A leftwing echo hammer wouldn’t have to be unethical, it just would play by the rules that society has allowed. News orgs get one chance. They do the investigating and reporting, and then they let the baby loose and it toddles off…usually to be buried or smothered or to get run-over at the first crosswalk. There is no ability to repeatedly club the RWNJs over the head with the facts. No ability to mobilize or organize or pool resources or behave as an advocate.
Republicans never explain and never apologize. Democrats always apologize most often when no apology is necessary because they told the truth somewhat inartfully.
